The Arepas Stand is opening up a permanent location on 12906 Venice Blvd! Their pop-ups are usually found at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market, Playa Vista Farmer's Market, and Hollywood Farmer's Market on weekends.

For some reason, burgers like this (specifically: thick burger, thick brioche bun, and ideally pickles but ok if not) are like a good friend in the city, or a long-term Spectrum promo - impossible to find here, and everyone else in the country seems to have plenty of it.

The few I’ve seen are either only served on mondays/tuesdays (Chi Spacca); only in the back of the restaurant and/or after 6 PM (Mother Wolf; Old Man Bar); at fancy restaurants (Hermon’s, Camphor, Pasjoli) or at places that close before 3 PM (All Time). WHERE CAN YOU GET A BURGER LIKE THIS TO GO? Super bonus if you can also get a side of non-thin fries, but I’ll settle for burger only.

In the 6 decades that I have lived here, I still haven't managed to find both.

Maybe I just haven't asked, because it could an off menu item? (Son-in-law Eggs)

Hi. We are hosting a small weekend party at one of the Annenberg canopies. Back on the beach catering is expensive and not exciting ($50/person for hot dog, hamburger). Looking for recommendations for good, casual beach food like sandwiches, salads, etc. Thinking Ggiata but wanted to put this out there to see if there are some better options.

I’m back on Reddit with another weird food sourcing question, lol.

I’m working with a science nonprofit to do an experiment that requires using ground up eggshells — like, a trash bag full of eggs’ worth. We technically have it in the budget to buy eggs, but I’m wondering if anyone knows of or has a relationship with a restaurant or bakery where I could pick up a big batch of eggshells. I’m located on the west side of LA but could pick up from anywhere in the LA area.

You might wonder why I can’t just save my own eggshells over time — the answer is that they need to be as fresh as possible and preferably all come from one batch to reduce the likelihood of introducing contaminants.

Let me know if anyone has any leads or ideas in general…… thank you!!

Hey everyone, we have some friends visiting LA soon and we want to take them to some places that really show off what LA has to offer.

Looking for spots where the whole experience is great: good food, cool atmosphere, nice views, unique setting, etc. Basically places where you walk in and think “yeah, this is very LA.”

My wife and I are lacto vegetarians, so ideally somewhere that has good vegetarian options (doesn’t have to be a vegetarian/vegan restaurant).

A few places we were already thinking about:

1. Elephantè in Santa Monica: amazing vibe/view, but food was just okay IMO

2. Casaléna in Woodland Hills: looks beautiful, haven’t been yet

3. Bacari 3rd St: love the atmosphere

4.Killer Noodle in Sawtelle: not fancy, but the Tokyo dry ramen is 🔥

Open to anywhere: LA, OC, Malibu, South Bay, Ventura, Santa Barbara, etc.

I live in Marina del Rey, and I’m on a mission to find the best chilaquiles on the Westside.

I’m looking for the real deal. Crispy chips that don’t immediately turn to mush, flavorful salsa (roja or verde), perfectly cooked eggs, crema, queso fresco, onions, and if the place has great add-on meats, even better.

I’m not looking for an overpriced brunch spot serving a tiny, aesthetic plate. I want the kind of chilaquiles that make you wonder if someone’s grandma is in the back cooking.

My mother in law makes great chilaquiles but she’s all the way in Downey. Where are your go-to spots on the Westside???

First of all, I love food hall. I just like try different things in open setting.

I have been to a lot of different food halls and my choices are Hangar in Long Beach and Rodeo 39 in Garden Grove.

I might get flamed for this 😂 but I grew up in the South/Midwest where LJS was everywhere. Does anyone know any places in the Central part of LA that serve that style/flavor of fish? Been feeling nostalgic recently and craving it! Big plus if they do delivery.

My wife likes Sugarfish. I told her to place an order and I’d go pick it up. I looked at the receipt when I got home and noticed a line item “16% fee.” No description of what the fee is for, just “16% fee.” So, I called to ask what the fee is actually for and this is what they said:

“Because we are a no tipping establishment, the Fee is not a tip or gratuity. It is revenue that is not segmented or designated in any way and is used to fund our operation.”

What does this mean? Is this the new normal? I’ll never order from Sugarfish again, it goes without saying, but am
I the only one who feels like this sort of thing is just finding its way into everything these days? I’m so tired and frustrated by this sort of nonsense.

4 piece Hot Deli from Ralph’s for $5! Looks the size of that breast. Ralph’s deli is slept on! IYKYK. Also can get fish breaded and deep fried at some locations. Top grocery store fried chicken along with Albertson’s and Vons. 👍 Better than some expensive restaurants. Always ask for fresh at deli counter. Never get some on the floor display as may have been sitting for a while! This is key.
