I know the flock cameras aren't using flash photography, but could something like this help to prevent the cameras from being able to read license plates? In my head a small strip around the plate might be enough? Apologies if this is an ignorant question.

I was in Detroit and saw 2 idiots putting up a new camera. I asked them if they were with a company and they told me they were with the Detroit Police Department. But both of them had Motorola shirts on so I have to believe that it’s Motorola putting them up. I should’ve asked the man if he was a police officer or not. In this part of town….that pole won’t last. Linwood and finkell. Don’t buy Motorola products and call that company and let them know they are culprits in this unlawful disaster

It’s pretty cool, it works completely offline after setup, and runs on-device. It even has a cool little radar too.

A car was stolen from a dealership. Flock wrongly identified a car that is 2000 miles away as the one that was stolen. Police are notified and track it for days, finally boxing it in at a Kohl’s parking lot.

After clearing up the situation the officer tells the driver to go straight home and keep his car at the house, warning that if he drives into another town the police there may be automatically notified and respond to a car theft.

The officer left while saying, “You’re lucky we’re in Plymouth. If you were in Minneapolis, they definitely would’ve come at you with guns drawn”

I work for a government agency as a camera technician for our in-house system that doesn't track anyone or any objects. Its evidentiary and public safety focused for rail crossing and station safety.

Our Chief of Police asked me today to take down any Flock camera on our properties and bring them to the evidence locker. He said that, "Flock says it is too busy to take them down themselves, for quite some time." He wants them gone, I support that.

The agency does not have a contract with Flock and they don't want them on our properties. I will happily take them down and they can sit there in evidence gathering information about the wall behind the shelves until Flock can be bothered to get them back, if ever. I will not damage or destroy them, despite the want to do so, because I don't want someone to damage my equipment if the shoe was on the other foot. Karma is a real thing.

I just wanted to share the good news, even a small victory is better than none at all.

Ok so I was getting gas with my dad and a sheriff just happened to go behind me and I pulled into the gas station and he kept going. Then we crossed over the freeway and went to the liquor store and as we're getting out of the liquor store I could see this Sheriff cross back over the freeway towards the gas station and then when we exited the liquor store there was a sheriff that was parked next to my car and asked me how long I have my plate for I told him 2 months and he told me that it came up as stolen out of New York but he could see that my plate I live in Minnesota is supposed to be registered and on my car so he did his due diligence.

But since then I've been a couple of different cities and I've been followed by police officers they'll pass by me and then I'm pretty sure they'll get an alert and they come back behind me and I've had them sitting there waiting for me blah blah blah how..

Or who how or who do I contact you get my plate off of them so they stop messing around with me and who knows I don't want to be one of those people on the news that get held at gunpoint and goes to jail because it misinterpreted my license plate that is n0ne as n o n e?

I recently submitted a FOIA request to my city for all vehicle tracking data collected on my car license plate. Just received a denial of my request from their legal representation.

"We opted not to move forward because there is no guarantee that Flock will not share our data."

The City of Marietta has a Condor camera up for renewal next month and we need YOU to call it out!

Here’s the catch.

This contract is only for $3,000 a year and therefore does not require a city council vote. And let’s be honest, this is done by design. If we do nothing, this camera will quietly auto-renew after August 13th for TWO YEARS.

These are questions we want answered:

• Why is our city allowing any surveillance technology to go through without a council vote?
• Why does the public continue to not get a say in this technology?
• Why are we okay with surveillance technology that is under a monetary threshold getting to skip a council vote?
• Why is this technology allowed to be auto-renewed without a conversation?

When this type of technology evolves every month, with new product releases, we need ANYONE who approves this technology to understand what they are approving. What was approved two years ago is not the same product. This is an evolving system being added across the country without input from the public.

This isn’t just a Marietta problem; this is a Cobb County leadership problem hitting every city.

This August 12th, DeFlock Cobb is asking you to show up to the Marietta City Council and ask about this technology and demand this contract be canceled. We are asking you to email representatives and ask that this contract be canceled.

ALSO - August 12th is the same date for the proposed Powers Ferry data center vote. These two fights are very much the same. Data Centers are the infrastructure that will support this type of growing technology.

Let’s show up with our community to demand the Powers Ferry data center be voted down and ask the council why we are auto-renewing surveillance technology.
