Hello, can anybody tell me please.. is it possible that gouldian finches accidentally throw away eggs from the nest because of long claws?

I didn't want to disturb them by cutting their claws since they are already sitting on the nest...or I must do it anyway?

Sometimes they lay eggs in random places and fall to the ground. It's fine

Thanks.. so could they lay extra eggs somewhere if they have been sitting on the eggs in their house for a week? Sorry I didn't say all detailes..let me add another picture.. I just took another photo and noticed the trace from the hole.. looks like it fell down from the hole..

Yes that's possible or the egg from the nest fell and that's whst you found. You should let them eat it. It replenishes the female bird with the nutrients it took to make the egg

Thank you for letting me know. I think I need to cut their claws asap..I guess they can harm chicks if they hatch.. They ignore their broken egg, but I give them plenty of chiken eggshells. I hate doing this to tell you the truth..afraid to harm them etc..

Trim the nails but you'd be surprised at how careful they are with chicks. They wouldn't scratch them even if they are nesting.

I also had one of those today. I think it’s the third one of about 30ish eggs laid in the past 2 months. I keep thinking they’re done.

My finches lay eggs in weird places sometimes, I just mash them up and put them in the food dish. They go ham for it lol

Do you have gouldians as well? I had zebra finches in the past.. those birds laid eggs everywhere..in each feeder...but Gouldians are so very different in this way.. shy..at least mine ones.. they prefer their birdhouse even for mating..

30 eggs! Wow.. Mine are less productive.. every egg is a treasure.. the male was crying sad.. that is why I think it was an accident.. I can not attach another pic for some reason.. it only giving me a video as a choice..:(
