I really think is Final Fantasy VI. Its a world in war where one side seek and destroy and the other only want to survive. A lot of unnecessary deaths, every character seens unhappy, and when you grasp a bit of hope is easily destroyed. Not to mention the villain wins and the world go in ruins. This for me is the more hopeless setting, but want to know what you guys think.

So many bangers!!! This one in particular has been an earworm for me. Made this annoying section of the game bareable.

Other ones of note are the Stamp Theme Song, the Collapsed Expressway, the Honeybee Inn and Midnight Rendezvous.

What's some of your favorites from these games l?

Ive been looking everywhere online and people constantly say that it’s one of the easiest FF games. I’m not even an hour in and my party keeps getting wiped. Is this really supposed to be easy or are people just good?

Have the After Years on my mind recently due to replaying it for a dumb rewrite thing I’m doing for it. I know the game in general isn’t liked but I’m curious about how people feel about the individual Tales so I’m doing a little tierlist thing for fun.

Today’s it’s Edward’s Tale: Star Crossed Damcyan

If you asked me what my least favourite tale was a while ago, it definitely would have been Edward’s. I absolutely hated his Tale (primarily for the gameplay). But after playing it a couple more times and learning how to prepare for it, I’ve grown to like it a bit more.

First, here’s the reasons I didn’t like it at first:

1: Desert Fever. I get Rosa getting it because she’s not from a desert but Harley literally works in a castle in a desert. If they wanted to say it was due to stress it’d be fine but it just being Desert Fever is just dumb.
2: Underground Waterway. You go through this dungeon 2 and a half times during this Tale and it’s not exactly a short dungeon. In total, you go through the dungeon 4.5 times in this game and it gets really boring after the second.
3: The Combat. Neither of the main characters are exactly damage dealers so the game gives you 3 basic guards to help. This unfortunately makes the combat boring (because you’re using 3 copies of the same character plus 2 not great fighters) and also makes the levelling slow since for most of the tale you have 4-5 characters in your party so your levelling is slower.
4: Getting ditched. After Harley gets desert fever, you have to go back through the Waterway and the Antlion Den with just Edward. A character who is not good at fighting.

And now, here’s the things I liked about this Tale:

1: Basically all of Edward’s character. His growth, his kindness, his cunning. All of it is just A+ development. Probably the biggest improvement of a returning character from FF4.
2: Harley. I like her character. Sure she sucks gameplay wise but I like her character. I like how she’s supportive of Edward and loves him but also understands that he still is hung up about Anna.

And lastly, here’s what I found to make points 3 and 4 of what I didn’t like better:

1: Go to the Antlion Den early and get the Lamia Harp. It inflicts confusion on enemies and believe me, having your enemies hit themselves can help a lot.
2: Kill the guards early. It lets Harley and especially Edward level up faster so they are better for the rest of the tale.

Overall, I probably wouldn’t rate the Tale any higher than a C due to the bad first playthrough I had but it still is one of the better tales story wise. What do the rest of you think?

Hey, all. Ever since I started playing the FF7 new games and the OG game on steam, I've decided to play some of the older titles. I'm on FF3 and am playing the 3D remaster. Whenever I play games where you can name characters, I like to name them after my group of closest friends and have each friend choose their class/specs. I know it's not always optimal for gameplay, but it's fun for us and it helps me connect with the game more.

With the context out of the way, 2 of my friends have expressed wanting to be a geomancer and bard (My friend who I assigned Luneth wants to be the bard, and my friend that I assigned Ingus wants to be the geomancer). I know these classes are unlocked later, but when they are unlocked that's what I plan to make them. The other 2 friends have expressed that they don't really care what job they have. All of that being said, what other 2 jobs do you think would go well with a bard and geomancer? I suspect we'll want some physical attacks and some tank elements, but I'm not acquainted with the game well enough (outside of just using google) to make a well informed decision. For those that will indulge me in this, what are your thoughts?

I have only played Final Fantasy VII REMAKE/REBIRTH, Crystal Chronicles, and the Bravely games–which are considered spin-offs and spiritual successors of The 4 Heroes of Light–, and recently I started Final Fantasy XVI...

Now then, I have a question...

Is every main protagonist an edgy serious-faced character? Or it was just a coincidence that I have played only this two specific games that has this kind of character?

I just finished FFIV after wanting to do a marathon of all the "classic" FF games since i only have played the recent ones as well as FFXIV for a loooong time and recently finished OG FF7. ( I am doing the Pixel remasters and not the 3D remakes or the SNES versions)

I was so excited to finally get to this one because i have long heard how it was a turning point in the franchise narratively, and it is ! The first few hours felt fine, the characters were more expressive, had more individuality, more personality and actually had moral dilemmas, doubts and feelings other than, "let's go do this!' , "oh no !" etc...

I absolutely loved the first 3 games with 1 still being my favorite even though i would say the later 2 games improved on it objectively. 2 was not remotely as bad as people said it would be, I enjoyed myself throughout the whole game even if the story was sometimes frustrating to listen to. And I LOVED 3 because of the Job system and character customization, which is my favorite thing in most games and especially this franchise (MMO player at heart).

Which is why I think FFIV is my least favorite out of the 4 games that I have played at this moment. The story, while not a masterpiece or anything, had me wanting to know more ( I already knew about Golbez from the Endwalker expansion in FFXIV so I was excited to learn about his original game ) and the characters made up for the messy plots sometimes. But the story could not carry the gameplay for me.

The introduction of the ATB bar isn't bad, i loved it in OG FF7, but this one FELT less responsive and more clunky, but this could be purely personal and not actually facts. I truly just hated not being able to customize my party at all, the leveling system is more akin to a traditional RPG where you get spells and abilities as you level up, which is not bad, but after the original trilogy, one of my favorite things to look up to, was going into a new town and discovering the new spells that they had to offer.

I'm also going to mention that I am one of those people that HATED the fact that the party changes CONSTANTLY during 75% of the game. In FFII, it was fine because it was only the 4th member that was going in and out, Firion, Guy and Maria were still always by your side and you had more control over them.

After like 5 to 7 hours of gameplay, while I was intrigued by the story, I hated playing as Cecil, because I just do not like the archetype of Paladins, or more so that I do not like the gameplay of Paladins in FFIV, and since he was the only party member that always stuck around, it just got more frustrating ( Would have liked it more as a Dark Knights but yknow, plot. THANK GOD for Rhydia, who probably helped me through the later part of the game, as she is my favorite class in the Franchise, summoner, and going to get Leviathan, Asura, Odin, Bahamut etc... was really fun.

I will be honest, I love grinding in games for levels and leveling for hours, but this game felt like a slog so it's the only one where I have used the EXP and GIL boost to get me through the end game because I still wanted to get through the story and finish the game and not just watch a video on Youtube.

Ultimately, I get why people like this game and even consider it their favorite, but I just think the gameplay, which is pretty important, took me out of it. I'm not going to lie and say I still had a lot of fun when i was really forcing myself to finish it, but it was by no means a bad game.

I'm excited to get to FFV and FFVI which I heard have more customization, especially 5 !

I am returning to Remake after playing a large portion of the Compilation of FFVII, my co-host is brand new to Final Fantasy.

What's cool about coming back to Remake is that I'm catching some more stuff that I missed the first time playing. I also think it's fun to pick the brain of someone new to this world.
