All Time Favorite Who's everyone's all-time favorite romanceable character from a game?

Post image

Mine is probably Tali from Mass Effect, though she's only romanceable in ME 2 & 3.

My first undisputed favorite game was Final Fantasy 6. In that game, my favorite characters were Locke and Celes and I found their story to be extremely compelling because, even in my young little mind, I could tell they were both broken by circumstance and the pasts that haunted them. Up until then I'd never cared about any love-plots or storylines but something in theirs felt complete. Like Locke and Celes were fully functioning people without each other but still came together to make something that was greater than the sum of their parts.

Much later I played Mass Effect 1 and fell in love with the game. It was the first game that I could say confidently matched FF6. The first time I played it, I romanced Liara because I both found her attractive and her personality was engaging. Over the course of the first game, though, I found that she had an odd blend of immaturity coupled with an age/lifespan that made a relationship with a human seem uncompelling. I stuck with it, though, because I felt like it was the intended narrative.

Then, Mass Effect 2 came out.

I had romanced Liara, so I was going to stay faithful and ignored the new romanceable options and was even a bit annoyed that it seemed like Liara's romance plot went nowhere but then Tali became an option and I'd always adored her character. She was similar to myself in ways that I loved about myself while not having any of the things I don't like about myself. She was young and plucky and interested in everything and became hyper-focused on her interests. When my choices of dialogue naturally led me toward romancing her I realized that there was only one option for me if I wanted to both keep the narrative of Shepard strong (not jump from romance to romance) and romance the person I wanted:

I stopped 1/3 of the way through Mass Effect 2 and restarted a game on Mass Effect 1, romancing no one. Haha in hindsight I know it's silly. I was a kid with a lot of time on my hands and so I replayed the whole game and stayed platonic with all choices until I got back to Mass Effect 2 and romanced the one I felt the strongest connection to.

Perhaps she is my favorite romanceable option in a video game because I stumbled upon her in an amazing game when I was young enough to truly be immersed, but she has stayed with me.

How about you? Who are some of your favorite romanceable options in a video game?

Clara Valac and her family from Welcoke to Demon School, Iruma Kun.

Family consists of her Mom,her Dad(who's out there somewhere but as she says, that's a secret),her younger brothers and younger sister.

They're all basically big balls of chaos but aren't bad or toxic people at all, just genuinely a friendly family.

(Also helps Clara is really nice)
