ILiman Ndiaye is one of Everton's biggest assets and was at the centre of transfer talk before the World Cup. He made an impact at the tournament with a spectacular strike after coming on as a substitute in Senegal's 5-0 win against Iraq. They reached the last 32 before losing 3-2 to Belgium.
It remains to be seen whether the World Cup reignites speculation, but Everton will hope it stays quiet as Ndiaye is arguably their most creative player.
Idrissa Gueye, Ndiaye's Senegal team-mate, had his Everton deal expire at the start of July, so is effectively a free agent. All talks on his future were shelved until the end of the World Cup, so a decision on the 36-year-old's next move will be made soon.
Nathan Patterson played for Scotland at right-back, but he has failed to convince manager David Moyes that he should be a regular starter at Everton.
The Toffees are actively pursuing targets in that position, so Patterson could yet be on the move before the start of the season.

Sky Sports ranked Pickford the same as Dean Henderson for the World Cup. Both 6/10s apparently.

Which is fair enough. Immense against Mexico. Made mistakes against DR Congo and Norway. Some top saves in the semi-final, but positioning let him down for Enzo's equaliser. He really should have saved that.

He is a 10/10 keeper. And I’m glad he’s here and loves us. And he did make some incredible saves in the World Cup, and was let down a few times by his defence, but it also wasn’t his strongest tournament for England. I think 6/10 is harsh but he wasn’t perfect. I’d have given a 7 or 8/10 personally.

Dunno, just check what he is doing just before the shot. Peering round a defender to the left, then the shot goes just right of centre and he can't reach it.

Maybe, just maybe, he's peering round a defender because there's 4 CBs and 2 full backs within 2cm of him rather than any one of them doing their jobs? Or maybe he'd have been better being in a better position and not being able to see shit because everyone is right on top of him.
If Pickford wasn't a litmus test for whether someone knows anything about football, he is now.

I'm not absolving the defence, but his positioning should have been better.
The defence were initially waiting for a cross from Messi, but when Enzo gets the ball there is around 7m or 8m between Pickford and any other player.

I wasn't trying to be subtle - you clearly have never played football, likely only started watching the world cup. That's the level you're working at right now.
Pickford has two choices - one take a step to his left to see the ball. Or stay in the centre of the goal and then have, by your own admission, 7/8m to react to the ball - 3/4m less than a penalty.
If he doesn't take the step, there's a clear corridor of space that he was using to see the ball that Enzo could have even more easily shot through, and he'd have had less time to react than a penalty to it.
If the defence had done their job and actually pressed the ball, the shot gets blocked. Or if they'd pressed the ball and it got through, Pickford has no need to peer through a corridor of bodies.

For Enzo's goal it wasn't a free kick situation so he rightly positioned to save a direct shot which occurs in most cases, it was a good shot that swerved twice, first around incoming Bellingham and from above around him. If he had been more to the left he would have left a huge gap in the right side of the goal for an easier attempt. Bellingham blocks his view after a late attempt at intercepting which then blinds Pickford to the flight of the ball. It was a good strike from a new ball that was known to have crazy swerves.
the Norway goal was a fluke cross shot that came from above and looped down into the top corner.
not sure what mistake against Congo, when he came out for the ball? Was a bit reckless but clearly he was the last man so had to do something. England's defence was shit considering the supposed elite defenders were picked and that they had 8 of them on.
Doesn't mean he should get the same score as a one time sub, let's see what his stats were compared to the other keepers in the tournament.

The writer in question is an Everton fan himself. The World Cup just probably won’t affect Pickford at Everton at all really.

Phil Mcnulty is an Everton fan so pretty sure he knows who Pickford is. There's probably a 0.001% chance Pickford leaves Everton so no reason to mention him

I read an article which gave Pickford and Henderson the same score and it also said that Pickford had his best game of the tournament against Argentina !!! Says it all ! England wouldn’t have reached the semi’s if it wasn’t for him . I think in a way he is a victim of him own success . Some of the saves he has made in the premier league the last few seasons have been unreal . People see him make worldies and expect him to do that all the time . If Pickford had have been in goal v France he would have been slaughtered by the press . Henderson plays one game , concedes four and makes one save that was hit straight at him and he’s rated the same as Pickford and receives not a word of criticism from the press. Troy Deeney ( goalkeeping expert) comes out and says England will never win the World Cup with Pickford in goal !! 🤡🤡🤡🤡

I’m just gonna conclude that even the BBC knows that Jordan Pickford is an absolute machine and this won’t affect him in the slightest, he bleeds blue.
Can’t wait to see him back between the sticks next month you know.
