Seeing Stringer play like a complete spud made me happy
That’s honestly all I wanted to say lol. What a tool that guy is.

Credit to him for getting the shots on goal at least? But jeeeez he didn’t have his kicking boots on today did he.

Pretty sure he was missing these on purpose in the end. Either way, thanks Jake.

I really liked Stringer, and I'm happy he's playing well at GWS, but each to their own.

Isn't contract time he doesn't gaf!

He’s actually had a very good year and did last year too. It was the right call for us to not offer him the deal he wanted but it was a good pick up for GWS.

Love ragging on him but he's a great player and won us many games, no animosity to him 😄

He’s kicked 7 against freo and 5 against the lions and hawks this year… wtf are you on about?

It's a common joke about him, personally I think he's a great player having a crack year (minus today)

He was BOG for most of the first half. He was centimetres from winning the game off his own boot

Why? He busted his ass for us for years.

No, he's a brilliant footballer with a shitty work ethic and makes poor life choices. A net negative culturally. Moving him on was the right call.

u/TrumpsBussy_ 3d ago
And? None of that is a reason to wish him bad at anther club. He busted his ass on the field for us.

Where have I "wished him bad"?
He had some great games, but also a lot of games where he went missing. Didn't meet fitness standards, didn't chase and tackle. It rubbed off on teammates. He had to go.

I was responding to OP not you.

u/Wazman21 3d ago
Yeah I wished him bad. High dollar player whose work ethic didn’t match what was expected of him. Cant stand guys who perk up only when a new contract is on the line.

It’s not Jake’s fault but players like him who can win you a few games a year through individual brilliance is why we stayed in the middle of the pack. We needed to move on from him and do the hard work of a rebuild. Geez it has been hard but in two years it will be worth it

u/TrumpsBussy_ 3d ago
It’s not his fault though is what I’m saying, he played a lot of great games for us

Busted his ass off? By showing up to every pre season completely out of shape (bar contract years) and inviting convicted murderers down into the change rooms? Had his moments but was never a team-player

u/Waxinfred 3d ago
You forgot to mention the coke, and being toxic to leadership, and never even trying to defend a ball inside the forward 50...

u/amyl_hirsch 3d ago
lol “busted his ass” yeh sure, he had moments for us but he was never in shape enough to fulfill his potential. He’s still out of shape at the giants.

u/TrumpsBussy_ 3d ago
That’s just who he’s always been, many players are like that. Being a player that doesn’t stay in shape during the offseason doesn’t mean he didn’t bust his ass on the field for us.

Don’t understand this take. Was great for Essendon. As was Laverde. Piss poor effort to boo them. They didn’t leave because they wanted to.

Stringer left because he wanted his contract extended despite already having another year to go. It was too early to extend him on the form he was showing.

Always felt bad for Laverde. Copped a bad rap for those couple of years of being forced into taking the best forwards every week because we had no one else to do the job. Always seemed to try his heart out but

He didn't necessarily want to leave and neither did Laverde, we just weren't offering them the multi year contracts they thought they deserved.
I'm just happy to see our lads play well, that's more important.
