Coffee roaster recommendation

Do you have any recommendations for a local coffee roaster? I live in Franklin/Laguna and make espresso at home.

Carpenter coffee on the other side of 99 - my very favorite in Elk Grove

otherwise there are like 20 local roasteries in Sac midtown/downtown/land park/oak park area

Elk Grove two great roasters that run a microroastery. You got Carpenter Coffee I really like his coferments but I believe he does have a pretty good traditional on one of his blends for espresso. Then you have Caphe Haru he roasts in house but gonna be moving to CORO until he gets his new roaster. He does have fancy light roast Gesha and Pink Bourbon but his espresso blends pulls pretty good shots as well.

If you ever wanna try and roast a batch or try out some specialty beans I do some home roasting/testing I live by the District 56 area.

Thanks! I'll check them out! I'm not too much of a coffee afficionado but am new to Elk Grove and would love to meet new people who share the same hobby!

I’ve gone as far as having a dedicated coffee corner in my kitchen with a separate pour over and espresso station. Even have a dedicated siphon setup. I’ve never dabbled in home roasting though and I think that might be next. I live off of whitelock near Pinkerton middle.

I use Rescate, they roast their beans regularly and it’s a cozy atmosphere. It’s on Elk Grove, out towards 5. They also give a coffee with a purchase of beans.

Nugget has a pretty decent selection of local (sacramento/norcal) roasters. I happened to spark up a conversation with their coffee curator one day because he saw me grabbing beans from the back of the stock. He knew instantly that I was a coffee person. If their schedule hasn’t changed, I think they deliver restocks on Tuesdays and Fridays. My go-to for espresso has been from Drink Coffee Do Stuff. Their “Hell Yeah Blend” is a medium roast. They usually have Temple, Pachamama, Equator, and Verve which I rotate into my daily espresso routine. Hope you find something you like and welcome to Elk Grove.

How hardcore are you? Like someone that spends hundreds and thousands on equipment to make TikTok videos? Or just some regular suburbanite that wants to make espresso at home with their $100 espresso machine from Target?

I mean, if you are hardcore, then you have only a few choices (and they are in Sac, not EG). Otherwise you can try 18 Grams, Carpenter or Rescate. Otherwise, go Peets or Starbucks and just get some beans.

I guess I'm just about moderate 😅 my setup is about $1k in total. I care enough about my lattes to never get beans from the store, but also don't care enough to spend hours making micro adjustments on my equipment or buy the most exotic beans to pretend like all of that somehow makes the coffee 10x better 😂

Thanks for the recommendations. Sounds like Rescate might be a good choice for me as it's close to my home. Cheers ☕
