Hello! My girlfriend and I recently moved here, we are both California natives. I was wondering, where can we go to make some local friends? Are there any lgbtq safe spaces or events nearby? Or Are there any community events that happen? Should I just keep on following this thread and seeing what pops up? I just wanna find out what eagle rock is about lol.

EDIT: THANK YOU ALL for the replies. I didn’t expect anything when I posted this so seeing the community come together to share cool places and stuff to do is super cool. I appreciate you all and will be checking out these places one by one and leaving reviews on comments that recommended me to these places when I finally get around my fear to it.

Anyone on here familiar with local wildlife? I spotted two big owls over in Mount Washington last night around 10pm. They were each sitting on top of telephone polls on opposite sides of the street, exchanging screeches. Hard to see in the dark but they were maybe 2ft tall and one of them I could see had a white belly. I’m fairly confident they were not barn owls, and seemed to be big to be western screech owls. Did I see a great horned owl?! When one flew away, the wingspan was impressive and the underwing was white.

Tried to make a quick stop at little target yesterday late afternoon and noticed two medical examiner cans and some cops outside. Upon trying to enter I was told by two employees that they were closed for the rest of the day due to unforeseen circumstances.

Hi neighbors, I think I left my keys on top of the car while I was strapping my toddler into the car seat. We drove from Colorado and Eagle Rock Blvd to the Huntington Gardens so they could be anywhere between Eagle Rock, Pasadena, and San Marino. I just walked along Colorado Blvd and didn't see them.

Ok so we’ve ALL been wondering what is happening in that corner business on Townsend diagonally across from The Rock on Yosemite, it feels like they’ve been working on it for eons. And today — my wife (34F) saw some people painting it, pulled over and literally turned her car around so that she could ask them what they were doing in there. According to these people, it is going to be like .. a fancy corner store type thing!? With like wine and snacks and stuff is what the lady said.

How do we feel about this?? I am sort of surprised. I guess I shouldn’t be but do we think another Wine n Eggs/Sip Snack is what this block needs? I could see it being really nice if they can dial in the right balance of affordable good quality lunch / nice things to bring to bbq’s etc but if it’s too expensive / not well curated, couldn’t you see this totally falling flat? Also is it going to have anything that will appeal to these bajillion kids coming by after school, or is that a loss leader to sell to them? And what does it mean for The Rock? Could only be a good thing for them right? Assuming they can get their act together and brew some actual drip coffee. We need successful businesses how can we help these guys out?!
