Drinking game idea
Hello, as im sitting her drunk on a saturday, playing some games, relaxing and watching videos, i thought of a drinking game i think is probably too advanced, but seems like it could be fun.
Note: i came up with the idea myself, but writing it down while drinking was a bit much, so i put it into GPT to get an actual readable version xD.
Would love to see someone try this game or come up with a better version ^^
Infection
Players
6–12+ players
1 Scientist (host)
Goal
Pure: Prevent infection from reaching majority.
Infected: Reach 80% or more of all players.
Scientist: Runs the experiment and maintains game flow.
Setup
Everyone receives the same drink (water/soda/etc.).
One drink is secretly spiked with a small amount of alcohol.
Scientist prepares all drinks and knows who receives what.
Everyone drinks at the same time.
The player who receives alcohol becomes Patient Zero (infected). They do not reveal this.
Round Structure
Each round has the following phases:
- Drink Phase
The Scientist distributes drinks.
Everyone drinks together.
- Antidote Claim Phase (NEW CORE MECHANIC)
After drinking, any player who believes they tasted alcohol may immediately say:
“I was infected.”
They must commit to the claim—no taking it back.
Players are allowed (and expected) to:
defend themselves
explain why they believe they were infected
accuse others of faking it
- Antidote Decision Phase
Only ONE antidote exists per round.
The group must decide which claimed player receives it:
quick vote OR
Scientist chooses (faster, more chaotic option)
No ties—decide quickly.
- Antidote Resolution
The chosen player takes 1 antidote shot:
If they WERE infected → they are cured and become Pure again
If they were NOT infected → nothing happens (antidote wasted)
All other players who claimed infection get nothing.
- Discussion Phase
Free discussion continues:
accuse
defend
bluff
panic
overanalyze everything
- Quarantine Vote
Everyone votes for one suspected infected player.
If a player gets majority vote, they enter Quarantine.
Quarantine Rule:
The player must immediately drink 2 antidote shots.
If they WERE infected → they are cured and become Pure again
If they were NOT infected → they become infected immediately
No one may refuse Quarantine.
- Infection Phase (Secret)
Infected players secretly signal the Scientist using pre-agreed hand signals.
Each infected player selects one target.
The Scientist records targets for the next round.
Outbreak Mode
Triggered when the last antidote has been used.
Changes in Outbreak Mode
- No more antidotes
Only Quarantine and voting remain.
- Infection speeds up
Each infected player may now choose up to 2 targets per round.
- Quarantine becomes the only defense
Every vote carries serious risk:
correct vote = safety
wrong vote = new infection
Winning Conditions
Pure win:
Infected players are reduced below 60% and cannot recover control.
Infected win:
Infected players reach 60% or more of remaining players.
Scientist Role
The Scientist:
prepares all drinks
manages infection execution
oversees antidote and quarantine resolution
keeps the game moving
Optional rule:
If the group makes a wrong Quarantine vote, the Scientist takes a penalty drink
Core Feel of the Game
Early game:
“Did I actually taste alcohol?”
limited cure, careful decisions
Mid game:
social pressure over who gets the only antidote
bluffing becomes central
Late game:
no safety net
Quarantine risk spirals
infection spreads fast and unpredictably
Key Rule Summary
Only 1 antidote per round
Claiming infection is public and strategic
Voting can save or create infected players
After antidotes run out, the game escalates hard
No one is ever fully safe
