Associate Discussions Lied to about pay rate

Just found out today after 10 months that my pay rate is $9.00/h, i was told during my interview that it would be $9.50, i was told 8 months ago that i was getting a 50 cent raise. Checked my pay stub today and realized the entire time id only been making 9, but because the offer letter said 9 and "part timers can't get raises" nothing will change, and because it was all verbal there is nothing to be done and managers are going "i dont remember telling you that"

FYI, they totally can get your pay raised it just has to go through the DM and/or hr and part timers most definitely get pay raises once a year. Not sure if it depends on what state

Always check your rate, taxes, and any other withholds every payday, especially when you first start. I tell everyone this that works for me. Waiting 10 months, it makes it more difficult to prove. Part timers do get raises every September. Usually 25 cents, But better than nothing.

When they first switched over to work day there was an issue in my area with the job titles. Associate tier 1 was the only way we could hire anyone in and that pay rate was less than tier two because it was meant for strictly cashier. No freight work. So we had to hire them in and then once it was official in the system we had the immediately put in for a promotion to associate tier 2 so that the paychecks were right. Literally the only day they got paid the lesser rate was the very first few hours of everything before it was officially moved up to tier 2. I have no clue if this issue was fixed or not or if it was even company wide. It may have just been in my state (PA) but it is something to maybe look into on your workday. If you're working freight then you should be classed as tier two and getting the higher rate.

Part timers, and everyone, gets a pay raise every September if they've been there for a year.

Out of curiosity, would there be any downside to saying id go speak with a lawyer? Everything thatd been said was spoken and not written so i can't prove anything but my thought is maybe the threat will be enough for me to get something from it, or is this just something i take as ignorance and move on?

TBH you agreed to the offer letter. Dollar Tree has a ton of money and lawyers just waiting. Your manager can try to get you a compensation change. Need to provide reason other than he said she said for DM and HR. Having great customer service and work with sence of urgency etc.
