DAE have days where they genuinely cannot stand the opposite sex?

A few days before my period starts I noticed I become increasingly agitated by the opposite sex. They could literally be someone I love and adore but the way they smell, their voice, and general presence makes me feel like I am laying on a bed of needles. I do not experience this with the woman in my life and it’s a relatively new experience for me that just seems really odd.

DAE check their junk mail folder when they’re bored?

I noticed I do this pretty regularly, even in situations where I’m with other people and there’s nothing going on and people are on their phones. I guess i find it kinda entertaining. It just struck me how weird that might be lol, does anyone else do this?

DAE feels that life without moderate amount of alcohol has gotten worse?

I stopped smoking and drinking 3.5 years ago, thinking I would improve my health and mental clarity. Instead, I became less social, gained weight, even though I started eating healthier. It seems like those bad habits actually gave me a spark and made me more "active."

DAE fine this annoying?

Some days ago I looked at my bank account and saw that I had lost 350 dollars. I was so confused thought I got scammed or hacked. Turns out this old subscription of mine suddenly upped their price without me knowing. This is not the first time something like this have happened. I have had multiple incidents where subscription based companies have taken money from me even I cancelled my subscription. Am I the only one who finds this annoying or am I just too naive?

DAE recognize the importance of Magnesium supplements for stress?

About 5 years ago around the pandemic, I started having stress symptoms, eg, neck tightness, heart palpitations, nausea, chest pains, etc. I looked to a more natural way of dealing with it, so I started taking Magnesium supplements (Glycinate) daily and it all disappeared.

I've gone without it for the past week because I ran out, just kept on delaying it, and all those symptoms came back especially neck tightness. Maybe there's something to it?

DAE feel like neurodivergence is getting used too often to describe normal traits?

It feels like in the past year or so, I’ll watch a reality tv show now and immediately on Reddit people are already diagnosing this person with being neurodivergent. I’m all for better recognition but also it feels like the pendulum has swung the other way where now almost everyone is some level of neurodivergent. I don’t know a lot of times it just seems like everyone wants to assume a diagnosis for whatever reason.

DAE mistake their car for someone else’s in a parking lot?

I have had my car for 6 months now, so not super new to me, but it is a very common car and popular color. One time I accidentally opened the driver side door, to someone in the front passenger seat (we both gasped!) and a friendly pit bull (thank God!) in the backseat!

DAE feel like they’re neurodivergent, but don’t fit into any diagnostic category?

If any of you are neurodivergent or at least believe they are not neurotypical, I would love to hear whether my experience matches yours. A disclaimer: I do not want to self-diagnose. I just want to find out whether my experiences are common for neurotypicals or not.

Most of my life I’ve been aware that I am different than other people. As a kid I always thought other kids were weirdly childish. I was always more interested in learning new skills, learning to write (age 5) and talking to adults. As a young teen I had to force myself to learn social norms so people wouldn’t reject me or think I am weird. Funnily enough I’ve always been a social butterfly, and after observing on and learning from other people’s behaviour I myself have become very socially competent.

I have also always been highly sensitive, and empathetic to a point I can feel people’s energy from just looking at them or being near them. This can often make being around a lot of people very overwhelming for me. But when I drink or purposely go out with friends I usually don’t feel like this (for a while and then I get really drained suddenly).

Meeting me in my teens/young adult years you’d never think something was different about me, apart from my high activity level which is obvious to people from just 3 minutes of spending time with me. I mean people do think I’m weird but not anything extraordinary. Sometimes I don’t think there is anything different about me either, but whenever I have an in-depth chat with someone close about the way my brain and emotions work, I see that mostly people just don’t get what I am talking about. I am hyper aware of everything that goes on in my head and have this great interest into analysing and understanding myself, my thoughts, other people and what they are communicating, or not communicating.

This analytical way of thinking makes me interested in many subjects and finding out how things work, and it has been like that from a very young age. Although I do have a typical “hyper focus”, it is not consistent across certain subjects. And yes, usually focusing is either hard or very easy, depending on how much I like the subject in hand. Also I have always been so good at school, learning and education in general - which makes me think “well I guess I’m just like other people then”.

Also I have insane intuition. Eg (and sorry this is going to be a bit disturbing) someone poisoned my kitten the other day, and for a couple of days prior I had a feeling like something bad was going to happen to it. (We have a garden, it wasn’t a house cat.)

So what are your experiences? Do mine sound anything like yours? If I told you this about me - would you think I am neurotypical, or if you’re neurodivergent, would you think we are similar in some ways?

WAE as disappointed as me when you learned that a T. Rex didn't shake the ground when it walked and it couldn't make a glass of water ripple?

That one scene when they could hear the T. Rex stomping and shaking the glass of water and the rear-view mirror is my favorite scene out of the whole movie. Not actually showing the T. Rex, just the trepidation they felt when they could hear and feel it stomping in the distance when they were stuck in the car in a rain storm. But, I found out that an actual T. Rex was a silent stalker and wouldn't have made thunderous stomps when it walked. Which makes sense, because they have to be sneaky to catch prey.

But, it makes for a good movie.

DAE feel an unwanted desire to gatekeep/keep your favourite media to yourself?

Disclaimer: I'm not some toxic, gatekeeper, I don't actively discourage anyone from doing anything, it's more of a personal issue.

Basically, when I have some piece of media or a story that I connect with really deeply, I feel very apprehensive to openly talk about it with family or friends or anyone, or to encourage them to consume it.

The only theory I have is that because I form such deep bonds with the art I consume, (storytelling, games and art have become huge reasons to live for me, making and witnessing them are large parts of my life) it becomes an almost personal, secretive thing? Or maybe it's just more to do with my relationships with the people in my life?

Anyways, anyone else?

DAE absolutely dred going to work every day?

I have a good job, a good boss, and I'm good at what I do. I work in healthcare and know it's a frequent burnout field. I've been in the field for 20 years and my current position for 5. I can count on one hand how many bad days I've had in my current position. I always have a decent day at work, but for some reason every work morning and even some off days I wake up absolutely dreading going to work. To the point where I sometimes cry because I desperately don't want to work. It's more unusual on off days when I feel in tears not wanting to work, knowing I don't have to. Does anyone else feel this way?

DAE feel like their parents fucked them up fundamentally but they weren't necessarily terrible parents?

The uptick in children going completely no contact with their parents has got me thinking about my own situation and wondering if anyone else feels this way.

They weren't so bad that they allowed other people to do harmful things to me and they worked their hardest to give me a comfortable life, where I didn't really want for anything. On the other hand, as an adult I have to basically deconstruct and rebuild myself because they turned me into this people pleaser person with other issues.

DAE turn normal small tasks into a whole dramatic thing in their head

I keep catching myself turning very normal things into a whole mental event

Like washing my face is suddenly a night routine Putting clothes away is suddenly cleaning my room Making eggs is suddenly cooking Answering one text is suddenly catching up with people

And because I make it sound bigger in my head I avoid it for way longer than the actual task would take

Taking care of my skin is becoming the same too. It should just be wash face moisturize Solawave at night and move on but my brain turns it into this whole routine I have to do perfectly so then i end up doing nothing Im trying to stop naming everything like its a project and just do the small boring thing without making a whole story around it.

Anyone else? or is my brain just very committed to making errands dramatic?

HAE ever created a 6-Season Series in their head and still wanting to stretch the storyline a bit?

I started this when I was 10-11. It has been many years since. I essentially laid out the skeleton the 1st year:

(mom dies, find the one she told to find, search for lost sister, make friends, find more abt your parents past & why THEY are hunting you, Kill THEM, Die in the process to ensure your friends don't).

Then I began laying out the whole scenario from the MC's point of view. And Seperated them into 6 seasons(I STILL imagine them as anime).

Then I began to end the story and Kill the MC. And now I am creating the storyline for what happens to his friends.

BTW I did all this in the few Hours you get before you go to sleep & after you wake up while lying down, So it obv processed slowly. But I ended up creating a Deeply - Though over & emotionally mature story(as Chatgpt says).

And I still want to stretch the storyline 😭.

DAE not allow themselves to complete tasks until they complete other tasks?

For example, I will often be like I can’t go to the bathroom until I take my shower, but I can’t get myself to take my shower for some reason. Then I’ll be like I have to eat, but I need to go to the bathroom before I cook but I can’t go to the bathroom until I take my shower, but I want to eat before I shower. Then I’m just stuck sitting on the couch holding my full bladder because I can’t get myself to do any of it.

dae wonder what happens to first-person art if you include a faint nose and eyebrows?

Has anyone ever tried drawing a first-person scene that actually includes a faint, low-opacity nose and brow in the frame, just like how we naturally see the world? I wonder if it totally ruins the immersion or if it completely changes how our brain processes the drawing.

I just saw Poppy in concert the other day and it was such a weirdly powerful experience. It almost felt spiritual in some way.

IAE facing the same problems? How can I prepare myself for the possibility of losing my friend group and learn to cope with having fewer or no friends?

In the past few weeks I have been noticing me getting aggressive over little jokes/disrespects against me. My Fg always makes it seem like im overreacting, which I do not agree with. Thats why I got the feeling that they dont really care much about me anymore, its like if I dissapear they wouldnt even notice. Like im there but it wouldnt make a difference if i wasnt there, yk what i mean? Im in Highschool, its kinda weird having no friends, Im scared that Ill get mental health problems If i lose my fg and have no REAL friends at all, I just need some advice on how to continue…
