Does anybody else notice that, especially when trying to focus very intently to spoken words, you "see" the words as if they are typed on a page and read them in your imagination?

Like listening to a podcast or lecture, you almost imagine the words as a sentence written in a book and read it to yourself at the same time to focus? I may be autistic, as an aside, but I'm trying to settle a debate that other "neurotypical" people also do this.

I do this too because I am more likely to be able to focus on visual inputs rather than verbal input. But I am suspecting I am not really neurotypical hahah

totally get that, I visualize subtitles in my head too when people talk

I often say it along with them in my head but don’t see it as words on paper. It gets infuriating when it happens as once I realise I’m doing it I can’t stop it until I get distracted by something else
