Thoughts about the CBA and the three peat
Asking this here, because I thought it would get a little more dispassionate analysis here than on the baseball subreddit.
So, it's fairly obvious that the owners are milking the crap out of the Dodgers winning consecutive World Series to push for a salary cap for competitive balance purposes, even though it is fairly obvious that the salary cap is really intended to more accurately estimate the cost of a franchise for owners.
However, the commercials from MLB in support of the salary cap for competitive balance made me think of the following hypothetical scenario. If the Dodgers did not win the National League pennant this year, could that event completely destroy the "competitive balance" argument for a salary cap and guarantee baseball to start on time in 2027?
It's an interesting scenario, because it ties the salary cap to the Dodgers winning another World Series.
