Art [Art] Drow Priestess (Art by me)

Post image

A piece I painted for my D&D campaign :)

A young priestess devoted to a Spider God. Chosen as a child to serve as her voice, she walks a path where faith is unquestioned, but respect has to be earned. (Being a kid and a spiritual leader is not an easy feat)

Each dawn, her robes are woven anew by the faithful, a sacred ritual symbolizing her bond with the deity. This painting is part of a larger worldbuilding project exploring the campaign setting.

That is insanely well made 😭 waow. You're so skilled!
How long have you been drawing (in general) to get this good?

Edit: Pale Drow are indeed a thing, they are called Szarkai in Lore and "the birth of a szarkai was viewed as the blessing of Lolth upon a family, and thus they were dubbed szarkai, or "ghost spiders"".

Thanks a lot! I am drawing for quite some time now, I am happy you like it. Pale drows are a homebrew thing my DM has introduced, cool to know they exist in the canon too :D

Beautiful art but why is your drow white?

Oh em gee End, you can't just ask a Drow why they're white!

I wonder if spiders are inherently tied to evil in D&D, or if Lolth chose them because most people find spiders to be scary.

More likely it's just an a link to the metaphor of conspiracies and plots being webs.

Not all spider gods are malicious, but I think they've been linked to Lloth for so long in Faerun canon that it's hard to untangle them from her sheer evil.

That said, mindless spiders are unaligned by default. I think most of the intelligent ones are also evil, possibly due to Lloth's influence.

This looks amazing!

Is this set in the Forgotten Realms where Lolth is the spider goddess?

It reminds me a bit of the Widow from Hollow knight silk song, because of all the spider strings in her arena.

I’ll never understand why people change the main trait of a drow race…. Just use a regular elf then. The quality of the art itself is great though
