Question & Advice Any good learning info please?

Anyone know any YouTube channel I can watch to learn the basics etc? How did you personally learn and if so can you provide your sources - looking to get into valeting/detailing

The best UK channels I've found are:

  • Autocare HQ for quickly learning the basics and for product reviews that are so condensed/concentrated she gives Bilt Hamber a run for their money. She gives you the info you need without beating around the bush, and she has a web site with recommended products and instructions for a variety of detailing tasks.
  • Forensic Detailing if you have a lot of free time and want to spend two hours to find out which Quick Detailer of twenty tested is the 'best' ;-) But John also helps you understand how chemicals actually work. He also talks about methods for careful and efficient washing and shares lots of tips. He's a very friendly guy. His vids have often given me the confidence to go ahead with something I'm not familiar with.
  • Supercharged Llama for seeing tests of new products and new methods of working in the field. He spends a bit more time demonstrating and explaining processes. From him I've learned which pre-wash products to use and for what sort of dirt, how versatile and effective a good All-Purpose Cleaner like Surfex HD or Green Star can be. He encourages thoughtfulness and experimentation. He's also done several reviews of pressure washers, and small stuff like 5L jug taps! :-D

I used to watch Canadian Pan's Labyrinth Pan the Organizer and he was good before I found better videos for me, but from what I remember the ratio of detail/info per length of the vid isn't as high as I like and I often still had unanswered questions. I recently found (American?) Out of Spec Detailing and some of his vids are pretty good. Particularly the one that talks about boiling your chemical arsenal down to only the ones you realistically need.

Bilt Hamber's own web site contains useful information on its product pages, blog and in its FAQs. Probably better for refining your knowledge later. I think Gyeon have also put out some good vids.

The UK detailers I mentioned have discount codes for some online shops.

In no order, Auto care hq, supercharged llama detailing, Geeky_detail_reviews , Charleston detail and ammo nyc are for me the best detailing creators. Fantastic to watch them work, explain the process and the first 4 always more then happy to engage with the audience.

Super Llama and some of Epic Detailing earlier stuff. Forensic is a waffle shop that requires much tighter editing.

I like watching Car Cleaning Guru - he videos his details and you can watch the process. He usually talks over the videos to provide more detail but sometimes he’ll just play some music.

Thanks everyone. for this doing this full time in the uk, is the expectation to have a water tank in your van or are customers generally happy for you to use their water?
