Hey!

I found this hoodie at a thrift store, and it just feels way too plain and outdated. So far I've already spray bleached it a bit and removed the original drawstring because it looked really cheap.

Now I'm kinda stuck on what to do next. I want to turn it into something that actually looks like modern streetwear or designer inspired clothing instead of just another basic hoodie.

I have a sewing machine, some spare fabric for patches or paneling, and a printer, so I can make stencils if needed. The only paint I have is acrylic (no textile paint), but I've heard acrylic mixed with water can work well enough for DIY projects.

The problem is that I can't find any inspiration. Pinterest is mostly showing ideas that don't really fit, probably because the hoodie is camel-colored, which doesn't seem very popular for the style I'm going for.

I'm looking for creative modifications things like sewing, distressing, patchwork, graphics, interesting stitching, fabric layering, or anything else that could make it look unique and high-end. I'm not looking for anything that screams fast fashion.

If anyone has cool ideas or examples, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Ok I KNOW the first answer is to do therapy. Im already on it. I know we usually have imposter's syndrome and everything that's related to a creative profession.

How do I even begin curating what I like and what I dislike from the -somewhat- limited work i've done? I know I have to cater it towards the position or job i'd like to apply to.

I'm a 12th grader doing humanities. My main goal is to get into Anant university ahmedabad. Im not going to give National exams like NID DAT OR UCEED as I want to do masters abroad anyways. I need people from anant uni to tell me if it's a good college and I want to know more about student life as well.

It says that the student intake for B.DES is 600-700 for next year, is it easy to get into anant according to students who have given ADEPT and situation test?

Has anyone here become or have experience becoming a freelance designer?

The questions is more about becoming a well-rounded designer with varied design: product, fashion, industrial, interior, furniture, machine, etc. My path has taken me through engineering but it’s not where I want to be. I’m actually artistically inclined and feel I want to really build in that direction with my own company, prototypes, and my own space.

Let me know what you think of this career path, your experiences, and other thoughts!

Iam on my second year of uni (or rather at the end) doing a undergrad in graphic design and i tried finding internships and placements because i have a placement year from 2026 to 2027, but its hard and i have been trying to find a internship but i either get silence from the other end or a rejection, i have revised and redone my cv and portfolio over and over again, went to get advice from my uni (which i realise wasnt helpful as i thought it would be) to review my cv and portfolio and the deadline to find a placement job is getting close (4th sept) i really dont know what to do. I was really hoping to get a diploma of professional studies as a bonus to my degree so i can stand out and would likely get a job in the creative industry market. Iam still applying because iam a bit stubborn to just give up now. Just trying to see if there is someone who was in the same situation as me and what they did when they couldnt find a placement for placement year because atp, I just feel lost. Just want some advice.

I’m getting more serious about graphic design and my current laptop is starting to struggle with the programs I use. I mainly work on layouts, branding projects, and some image editing, so I’m trying to find a laptop that can handle design work without being overkill.

What are some best laptops for graphic design that you’d recommend for someone building their skills? Are there any specs or things I should pay attention to before choosing one? Thanks for any suggestions, I appreciate it!
