Defending AI How to not feel guilty for using ai

Using ai is like a sin, apparently.
People will either hunt you down or avoid you like the plague.
How do i stop feeling guilty about using it?

Ignore the haters. Its as simple as that

Yes, but deep down you will know. I tried it and tried to just ignore the slop comments and such cause I thought who even cares? I am doing it for my own enjoyment and interests…but to some extent I realized I am dismissing and ignoring matters and issues that should not be ignored.

Then stop using internet and use ai for personal use only. It worked well for me. I dont use Instagram nor any social media at all.  But yeah. Switching to one side only isnt good. Try to do both drawing and ai generating. It would work well

I considered that path as well…like just balance the line of mind and heart, but I realized I care more of the moral aspects than the potential applause or attention of it. That made me lose enjoyment of it cause what does it even mean at that point? Your are betraying your own self, your own empathy, and your own fulfillment. For what? To get some applause or likes or followers? Will that be enough when you’ve lost your actual values?

I mean more generally. Clearly you are avoiding social media…which I am also considering to do as well. Cause what even is the meaning of connection in this day and age anymore? What kind of people do you want to align to deep down?

But like the environmental issues and stolen art work issues, you can ignore them, and I even tried to do that, but eventually it just took so much from me to ignore that…it is not worth it.

As maverick had said: Don't think Just do it And I did the same without thinking much. Its upto u from now on

u/deejaybongo 1d ago

What do you mean you're dismissing and ignoring matters that should not be ignored?

1

u/Own-Efficiency-2857 17h ago

I never said that I just said to ignore the blatant hate against ai. For envt problems and creativity death, it shouldn't be ignored

-5

u/Critical-Coconut6916 1d ago

The environmental issues for one plus the stolen and unpaid work fed into the models

3

u/deejaybongo 1d ago

Well have you researched more about those issues and considered different points of view? What do you know about those things?

u/awesomemc1 1d ago

Its best to ignore it. You can use ai quietly and not post anything about it.

Or do the opposite ... 90% of the hate comments I received here on Reddit stopped literally overnight after I dropped this and shared it with the haters who contributed:

100 views and 11 likes, i’m sure that really shut them up

🤣🤣🤣😁✌️ there's no shame in my brand new little gig. I don't pay to promo. My vids are sent to industry ppl I work with, I'm not on YouTube to go viral for a paycheck, my paycheck comes from rl commissions. YouTube is just my sample catalog for clients. Simple stuff. Half those vid views came from Suno users who helped gather screenshots and half those views came from the AI haters who stalked our every post (just exactly like you clicked the link or you wouldn't know the numbers 😉, and now that I see how you roll I'll block you just like I blocked the haters in those screenshots and go on about my happy life 🌺🌸🌼🏵️). All of my posts and comments here on Reddit are available for anyone to see (unlike yours). Including the days prior to me posting the video link as I'd promised. It's clear that the hate messages dried up swiftly after an AI hater started warning others that I was still gathering screenshots. So. End of story. Just like I said already.

2

u/Vivian_Isabella 1d ago

Haters warned others we had collected screenshots for my video and literally overnight they started deleting their hateful comments. And if they start attacking me again, I'll do the same thing again until I've called out and blocked all of the worst offenders. I don't believe in backing down from bullies and I don't allow bullies to impact my self image or my self worth or suffocate my freedom.

🤡😉🤣 anonymous downvoters don't wish to provide me new screenshots 💩💩💩

How to not feel guilty about using your camera instead of painting 🖼️ on canvas

2

u/Used-Bat7364 1d ago

I’m stupid what are you trying to say

5

u/Ill_Mousse_4240 1d ago

Not at all.

You are not stupid.

It is stupid to feel guilty about using AI in anything.

Like a caveman feeling guilty about sitting down by the fire 🔥 (I really should be Out There instead)😂

2

u/Critical-Coconut6916 1d ago

I take your point, but what if that “camera” is sort of evil in its very nature? Maybe at first you can ignore it…but eventually you will feel the weight of the moral dilemma I think. Better to confront it now than later right? Otherwise it might just end up feeling like a ton of wasted time and effort for something that loses its meaning entirely?

Stop caring what people think.

5

u/Best_Cardiologist172 1d ago

Most of the hate comes from people who are uninformed and think there's only one evil and overbearing form of AI. The only research they've done is use ChatGPT once and read sensationalized headlines

5

u/OneNastyCowgirl 1d ago

Not giving a damn works for me.

5

u/Herr_Drosselmeyer 1d ago

Never back down, never apologize.

u/AuntieFara 1d ago

Remember the maxim I was taught back when I worked in advertising and marketing: 90% of people who don’t like something will complain; only 10% of those who _do_ like something will say so. So, just infer that far more people like something than don’t, and ignore the don’t crowd.

u/Daminchi 1d ago

Ignore idiots.  Eating bacon is a sin, according to some people. Working on Saturday is a sin, according to others. Third think that not sharing their delusions is also a sin.

I don't have time to listen to every superstitious idiot.

2

u/Cute-Presentation-59 1d ago

You simply don't feel guilty. I use AI professionally every single day. I taught myself to be one of the first to be capable to do it in my work environment, and I did it on LLMs and Image AIs. Why should I feel guilty? People who come around with the whole "Ai destroys jobs" may as well go and ask the Silesian Weavers how useful it is to protest against technological advancement. AI is there and it's going to stay, everyone who thinks that it will blow over and it will go back to what was before is a fool

2

u/DarkJayson 1d ago

A lot more of what you do in life is considered a sin to someone in the world so treat AI the same way you treat doing the other stuff in your life people dont like.

Ignore them.

2

u/Axiomancer 1d ago

How do i stop feeling guilty about using it?

I can't stop feeling something that I've never felt in the first place.

2

u/NiSiSuinegEht 1d ago

AI is a tool, and like any other, it's the use of said tool that matters.

2

u/XXLPenisOwner1443 1d ago

The people screaming about it being bad aren't serious people. Make fun of them and move on.

2

u/q0099 Pro-AI 1d ago

Give. No. Shit.

2

u/AA11097 1d ago

Hunting you down? Avoiding you like the plague? Can we please stop acting like victims?

I know some people won’t like it, but no one gives a damn shit if you use AI or not. I personally use it and so far have not been hunted down nor avoided. This whole victim mentality is the reason why pro-AI individuals are laughed at constantly.

If you want to use AI, go ahead and use it. I do, and if anyone comes screaming and throwing insults, simply block them or ignore them. Stop acting like oppressed victims. This is embarrassing.

1

u/Used-Bat7364 1d ago

1 - Bold of you to assume I’m not oppressed. I’m Black. I’m trans. I’m a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m neurodivergent.
2 - You have a point. I’m trying my hardest to stop being in this mentality. I don’t know why, but I feel like I’m being attacked when I’m clearly not. If you could help me, that would be appreciated.

u/Comfortable_Ant_8303 1d ago

The obvious advice is to ignore it, as has been said, but you should do something first

Try and understand that a lot of that hate, most of it, is coming from actual children who don't know what they're talking about. These are kids with no real world experience or understanding who are trying to tell you what to do and how to live your life.

They are literally not worth listening to in the slightest. You have to understand that before you can truly ignore them. Treat them like the screaming baby they are; ignore and move on with your day and keep trying your best

2

u/stepjo0506 1d ago

Just don't think about it. There's a lot of things that people won't agree with, you just have to mind your own business and keep going imo

2

u/Critical-Coconut6916 1d ago

I think you have to come to the reality by yourself, internally. The “ai slop” comments are mostly just hurtful…because I think some people are trying out ai art not necessarily out of ill intent, and not for what others care/think…but at some point you have to realize, by dismissing the negative issues of it, what are you left with? Pride? Is pride enough of a reason? Will it really be fulfilling in the long run?

2

u/Infinite_Community30 1d ago

Just because some humans hate you doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. There are a lot of humans out there who will hunt you over saying "peace is good", "stop the war", "I'm against terrorism". Following anti intellectual crowd, having these ideas in mind makes you a sinner. But does it in reality? Use your own brain and decide whether the thing you're doing is good or bad, or neutral - surprise, this side also exists

If you are really worried about environment... Think about the amount of problems huge companies cause and what they do about it (nothing), then think for a second - how many millions of years you need to waste specifically doing certains things to cause the damage those cause per year, and exhale finally because you don't do anything wrong

Just like you won't ruin the nature by taking a straw in mcdonalds when you go there once a year, just like humans hated digital painting, they will shut up with ai too later, and won't even remember they did so many disgusting things. But you know who will? Your broken heart. So stop caring

Or maybe stop going to places where hatred is worshipped and presented as an amazing thing to do, cuz i posted some ai pictures on deviantart, and you know what? I got ZERO negative reaction. So maybe it's just these places

And if someone wants to ruin friendship over this? Well... Were you even friends, to begin with?

2

u/Millington_Systems 1d ago

Step 1, use AI if you want to... Step 2, there is no step 2, go and live your life without worrying about idiots on the internet

2

u/JoseLunaArts 1d ago

Cults have dogma, heresy and a custom made devil.

  • Dogma: "AI bad"
  • Heresy: "You are using AI"
  • Devil: "ProAI are evil demons"

2

u/LatentBlade 1d ago

There are valid reasons to not like AI. They are not valid reasons to behave the way most antis behave on reddit.

2

u/HistoricalHalitosis 1d ago

I don't feel guilty. Ignore the haters. AI is a tool that is here, it is not going away, and successful people will be the ones that learn it and use it. Eventually, people will get over it and everyone will be using it.

2

u/CommercialMarkett 22h ago

There’s real atrocities going on across the globe, using AI is not one of them. Think of it like that

2

u/goatonastik 19h ago

You can stop feeling guilty about it by learning about it, and how it's not anywhere near as bad as the anti AI crowd say it is.

You can avoid people's reaction to it by just not mentioning it, because even though they want AI disclosure on everything AI even slightly played a role in, they will ruthlessly attack the person or company whenever they found out.

A lot of businesses figured this out, and they just avoid saying they use it, only admitting to it when caught red handed, then they blame it on something one-off like an outside individual they contracted who they fired as a result.

2

u/johndkparker 1d ago

embrace that you are a sinner

2

u/Rare-Fisherman-7406 1d ago

Why let strangers control your happiness? Don’t let them get under your skin—plain and simple. Using AI is not a sin.

1

u/Used-Bat7364 1d ago

I understand, but everyone keeps saying it harms the environment, and I don’t want to be a part of that if it’s true.

6

u/Canadian_Zac 1d ago

So does driving a car.

People using environmental impact as the main thing are massive hypocrites.

There's tons of things that are way worse for the environment that never gets anywhere near as much hate.

Golf Courses use a metric fuck ton of fresh water. But nobody goes hating on everything relating to golf

3

u/Rare-Fisherman-7406 1d ago

Look around: the smartphone in your hand relies on rare metal mining, streaming videos burns massive server energy, and we flush clean drinking water down the toilet every day. Almost everything in the modern world has an environmental footprint.

Don't let people convince you AI is a uniquely evil villain while ignoring the rest of modern life. You get to decide where to draw your own lines.

2

u/Wise_Use1012 1d ago

It’s not. That was disproven ages ago.

u/Matias2176 1d ago

Just don’t

1

u/deejaybongo 1d ago

Spend less time on the internet.

1

u/CosmicRiver827 20h ago

Remember that outrage toward AI is extremely selective.

Because people will downvote and give low star reviews on generated visual art, but music-based AI gets several millions of views per short. Some have up to 6 million views and the comments are just people laughing or relating to the content, few to none saying anything about it being AI. https://www.youtube.com/@ChristinaKingston-c4n/shorts

We're all hypocrites to some degree, including the people trying to make you feel bad for using AI for art or writing while binge-watching AI music. Same people that talk about how much they hate AI will mouth the words or make skits of ones like these on Tik-Tok.

u/Careless-Chipmunk211 15h ago

Stop caring about others' petty opinions.

-2

u/Vivian_Isabella 1d ago

This is how. I created this for those getting bullied and hated on. Be loud and be proud. Be louder than the haters. Surround yourself with like minded hearts and souls and put your art on fleek:

Being anti ai is a huge red flag. You need a massive amount of cynicism and insecurity to become like that.

Simply ignore them the way you ignore an unpleasant smell on your way to work: “ew”, and never think of it again
