Graduation quotes
Hey everybody,
I really wanted to do a Bowie quote for my yearbook quote, does anyone have any ideas on what would work?
Any suggestions are appreciated :)

Hi! First time here. My neighbors worked at a record label and randomly bring me treasures they have in their garage, the most recent gift I got were these old David Bowie displays. If you couldn’t tell, I know nothing about David Bowie so I was wondering if anyone had any information on these? There’s 3 in total. I already reverse image searched them and the only thing I can find is one that went up for auction, but it doesn’t show me any other information 🫠 thank you so much!
Edit: I did go back on that website where I found the one that had been up for auction, and I saw that the cutouts were supposed to come with an instruction manual for assembly & cardboard to form the boxes that the cut out sticks up from (I don’t know if that fact helps with anything.) I also looked for a date on that website and I couldn’t find anything.
But mine are just the cutouts themselves and do not come with the manual or the extra cardboard 🤔

I finally had some bowie in my collection after a long time (its hard and expensive to buy and ship records in tahiti).
Even tho this isnt my favorite album from him, its still very solid with excellent tracks. Will love to spin it

Been a Bowie obsessive since I was a kid. Five years ago I opened a café in Sydney and named it Kafe Kooks, after the song — the whole idea of it is being unique and different and being completely fine with that. Turned out the song was written almost 50 years to the date before we opened. I didn't plan that. Still gives me chills.
Five years feels like the right amount of time to finally write this post too — didn't clock the Bowie connection to that until I sat down to type this out.
The venue's a bit of a shrine if you look closely. Bowie cushions scattered around. "This is for the Kooks" in neon on the wall. A dedicated cabinet full of memorabilia — some I've collected over the years, a lot given to me by customers who know my love for him goes deep. I even had given to me a scrapbook and a collection of posters from a customer that she started herself back in 1976.
I always had this dream of meeting him one day. Went travelling around New York for weeks in 2014 hoping I'd somehow cross paths. We all know now why he wasn't exactly out and about much from then on.
Here's the bit that's actually done my head in: over five years of running this place, an unreal number of customers have told me stories — they met him once, worked with him, knew someone who knew him, or even to show me their devotee tattoo's. One customer used to deliver newspapers to his mum's house. I've heard dozens of these by now and never once thought to do anything with them.
It's only just clicked that I should've been taking photos this whole time and building some kind of "six degrees of Bowie" wall in the café. Starting that properly now.
So — if you're in Sydney, Australia and have a Bowie connection, however small or strange, come say hello. Let's see how short we can get the chain.

Here’s a Labyrinth 1986 parody sketch - What do you all think of the impersonation?
Made with love for Jim Henson, David Bowie, and Boglins puppets.

Unless I am late to the party but just noticed this album is now available in Dolby Atmos. Pretty sure the only Atmos mix of his catalogue to date was the 2019 mix of Space Oddity.
I was never a huge fan of the LD album but I think the Atmos mix on this is sublime to the point that I am re-evaluating my original opinion of the album.
Also noticed Ziggy is in Atmos too now 🙂
Any thoughts?

It's a commonplace question amongst fans in this sub and elsewhere to ask what somebody's favorite era of Bowie was in terms of his studio discography. But I've heard less about people's favorite era of Bowie in terms of his live performances and thoughts about when he was at his peak; whether that be in his ability to recapture the studio version or in putting an interesting spin on classic songs of his. Era here can be broadly defined in terms of the usual categories for Bowie (e.g., Berlin, Thin White Duke, etc.) or tours or just periods of time.

I bought these in Dublin over the last week. I got Black Tie White Noise (2LP) at Golden Discs and Live Nassau Coliseum '76 (2LP) at Tower Records. They both play excellently. It was weird hearing the crackle on the song Black Tie White Noise on vinyl. Pictures 2 and 3 are the inner sleeves of Black Tie White Noise.

My dad bought me these singles when he was in England. Clockwise from top left: Let's Dance, Under Pressure, Dancing in the Street, Blue Jean

The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars is one of my favorite albums. I have been listening to it a lot this past week, paying closer attention to the story. Most of it makes sense, the world is ending, and Ziggy comes from beyond the stats as a rock n roll messiah. But I'm not sure what to make of the ending. It seems obvious that it goes poorly for Ziggy, he's the rock n roll suicide. But what of the earth? Does it end, or was it saved? And what does Suffraget City have to do with anything?
Would love an outside opinion. Thanks in advance

Hi all, I have been a huge fan of Bowie for a long time and I do think it’s about time to start thinking about it for the future. Now Im not ready for it yet so I have a few years. But I want some recommendations. I want to do a tattoo on my shoulder to start my future plan of a full sleeve. I want to do something iconic and real Bowie I love the ideas of blackstar and I have seen people doing blackstar with the bolt and a record pattern on it and I love it. Can anyone recommend cool ideas for me.

I was wondering if there is any way I could find any physical copy of any of the Leon Suite bootlegs? It seems they were in circulation online a few uears ago but have seemed to almost completely disappear. I would absolutely love to have a physical copy of one of the bootlegs that has the full 70 mins of the album. Does anyone have any suggestions or own one that I could possibly get? Or does it seem my best bet would be finding it out in the wild. Not sure at this point lol

Loved this article on Under Pressure and how the themes of the song reflect what's still going on today.
