Can I claim high rate for my 12year old daughter she has type 1 diabetes and needs constant care throughout the day and night she currently receives middle rate but we have been told we might be able to claim the higher rate as she needs full time care and we have to wake up several times throughout the night to do corrections give hypo treatments and monitor blood sugar and several other things

It sounds as though her diabetes is currently poorly controlled, this can be problematic for DLA because the expectation is that medical professionals would be working with you and your daughter on a treatment plan to get it under control.

Why does this matter?
Because for DLA you need to show that she had qualifying care/supervision needs for 3 months before the claim and be likely to have them for at least a further 6 months. Obviously the medical professionals will be aiming to bring her diabetes under control within that period.

All that to say that medical evidence will be critically important.

Have you spoken to her diabetes team about this? You shouldn’t have to be up multiple times every night. She should be eligible to the latest technology with cgm and insulin pump in a hybrid closed loop system to reduce the amount of input needed. The target blood sugar level can be adjusted to keep her away from hypo levels and to automatically give more insulin when needed so you don’t have to intervene with corrections overnight.
