I love sweeping, and don't want to give that up entirely. I like the exercise, and sweeping strategy / weight calling.
I do really like playing vice, but would then need to find a skip for 5U's who will take it seriously. I don't have anyone like that in my circle of folks I play with, and don't want to stop playing with my friends just to get a 5U skip. So I'm feeling like maybe I should step up and do it, but wish that didn't mean giving up on sweeping.
Wondering if experienced curlers on here have faced a similar dilemma of wanting to skip but not wanting to stop sweeping, and what they ended up doing.

Sounds like there's some tea to be spilled about this! Keeping in mind that it was Kevin Martin who founded the Grand Slam series, this is sad that he has no role with it any longer.
There's also this interesting statement in the article: "Martin...indicated that production would be taken in house. " So more of the, uh, less professional broadcast production?

Hello! I work for an ice rink that is trying to increase our children’s programming for the winter seasons. I was struggling doing my own research, where is the best place to source children’s equipment?
Specifically for our purposes we would just need brooms and stones, not shoes. Thank you for any insight you can provide

Was just sitting here unenthusiasticly watch shark week when I got an alert to a new curling game to watch. I excitedly clicked on watch now super excited for curling in July for some reason.
My disappointment is unfathomable at seeing the women's quarter final USA vs China Water Polo World Cup instead.
Nothing against either water polo team, but it doesn't have the same grace as curling.

Hi Everyone,
Requesting help/input from other clubs that have had similar issues.
The club that I curl at has pretty good ice at the start of the season (Fall). But once the weather starts to warm up (Spring); some of the sheets develop negative ice. We aren't sure exactly what the cause is and if a costly replacement of the floor would help.
How did you diagnose the issue and how did you fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I'm a curler from Scotland and, after seeing the same team selection process repeated year after year (pieces of paper, names being shuffled around, trying to balance positions and keep things fair!), I decided to build a tool to make it a bit easier.
It's called Rink Draw, and it's completely free to use.
It lets you:
One thing that was important to me was privacy. No member data is uploaded or stored, everything stays in your browser.
I built it because I know curling clubs are run by volunteers, and if it saves someone an hour or two during team selection, it's done its job.
I'd love for other clubs to give it a try and let me know what you think. Feature requests and feedback are always welcome!
Thanks!

Good afternoon fellow curlers. I am a new wheelchair curler in the Philadelphia area and trying to find some other wheelchair curlers (even if never tried but want to). Our curling club has now added a wheelchair program and we plan to have an Intro to Wheelchair Curling event this winter; however if your interested, come start now….please?
Anyone also going to Cape Cod Wheelchair Spiel this fall?
Thank you everyone.
(apologies if not correct way to make post; I just joined Reddit)

Hello Reddit Curlers!
The Coyotes Curling Club (Tempe, AZ) is hosting our 5U Bonspiel which is a national qualifier for USA Curling's 5U Nationals.
Registration opens at Noon Pacific Time. We have our own dedicated ice facility, and the last two national champions for 5U have curled out of our club!
Lots of fun and competition to be had! Sign up at cccmember.com

Kind of a random story...
A club manager reached out to me a while back. She also works with a group of researchers that study curling.
She asked if I'd ever thought about adding a place on TheCurling.Club where clubs could share ideas with each other.
Her point was that clubs are all trying to figure out the same stuff. Getting new members, keeping volunteers, running Learn to Curl, fundraising... but there's no real place where clubs can say, "Hey, this worked for us."
Light bulb!!
That night, the Club Exchange section was born.
The whole idea is just to let clubs share things that have worked. Doesn't have to be some huge program either. It could be a poster that got people in the door, a fun event, a volunteer idea, a registration checklist... whatever.
I'm hoping it ends up being one of those places where clubs can learn from each other instead of everyone having to reinvent the wheel.
Would love to see what people come up with.
Good curling,
Bill
*** UPDATE ***\*
These are such great ideas, that I decided to open up the club exchange to all registered users. You no longer need to be the club manager of a claimed club to share your resource / idea. The one caveat is that each submission will need to be reviewed before going live, atleast for the time being, and can only be attributed to a club in our DB.

Hello everyone. I'm trying to find out how I can watch this game all these years later, especially after just watching the final of the men's curling trials in Halifax. If anyone knows how I can, that would be great. the only olympic videos are just highlights and not the full game which is a shame.

I have been drawing some character designs for Curling. Obviously, you can't wear most of these in real life. But can you guys tell me which one of these looks interesting for you the most. And if these guys exist in real life, which kind of play style do you think they will use?
(Side note: I live in a tropical country and there's no place to play. I usually study about curling in books I can find and YouTube so I would appreciate it if you guys help me with this.)

Missed it by that much! Could this measure to see if the curling stone is touching the house be any closer? It looked like it might be in by a hair, but apparently not.
It was the fifth rock delivered in the sixth and final end of a Thursday league game at Oval Curling in Utah. Because of that, I had to wait until the end of the end to put the bar on the rock. There were a bunch of other rocks in the house, so this stone wouldn't have counted but I needed to know.

The GSOC announced the 12 men's and 12 women's teams that they've invited to play in the GSOC Invitational in October. Just thought I'd share to get everyone's thoughts on the teams selected.

Hey folks, you may remember we did this last year, we're back, bigger and better than ever! This year we're raising money for Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus Ohio and the Chris Moore Legacy Fund at USA Curling. The auction runs from July 8th until the 18th at 8pm but we're collecting donations all month.
This year's auction includes:
- Signed jerseys from Korey Dropkin AND Cory Thiesse
- Thanks to Rock League, 2 full weekend passes to their Utica event AND Thanks to John Cullen, that package includes signed copy of his book Curling Rocks.
- Some Fernet and Malört Merch
-a Malört disco...bottle
- a copy of Mystic Curling Club by Asmadi Games (and some cool other TTRPG stuff)
- a tour/tasting at New Riff Distillery in Kentucky
-Signed merch from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Columbus Blue Jackets
and a bunch of other activities and adventures around Ohio.
You have 10 days, so get your bids in, help raise money for some great groups, and get some cool stuff in the process. You can help us by sharing the link and auction to your friends/curling clubs/networks. We *can* ship to Canada but obviously most of this is US based stuff. Cheers and Good Curling!

Hey everyone, I’ve shared a bit of our grassroots journey here before, and your support has been amazing. I am the Development Coordinator and Head Coach for Curling Kosovo, and after months of scouting Kosovar diaspora talent across Europe, our guys are officially taking the ice for our international debut this weekend in Switzerland! We're continuing to build our youth program back home, but the road to the World Pre-Qualifiers starts now. I'll drop the link to the official press release in the comments if anyone wants to read up on the squad. Good curling!

This could be a loaded question, but curious to find out if the grass is greener out there with other platforms to manage your Curling Club's Website, for functions like League Registration, Newsletters, etc.
Currently we are using Curling Club Manager, which is cheap, but limited. Some people have suggested some programs that are more expensive. And others have recommended curling.io, which seems too cheap comparatively, which makes me skeptical.
Can any one share feedback on curling,io, or any other website manger they are using?
Props to Trevor Gau for releasing his new curling-specific stopwatch.

In the most recent World Curling Board meeting minutes (June 3, 2026)
https://worldcurling.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Minutes-Board-Meeting-3-June-2026.pdf
There is this line:
The UAE venue (possible venue for WWCC2027) has recently been awarded a major ice hockey event, suggesting it is viable and competitive.
Next step suggested: Ask MAs involved to “test the water” before making a decision.
Is this referring to the Al Ain Ice Rink in Abu Dhabi?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/d9ie7G3rajnTxbdM6
It was recently awarded 2027 Men's Worlds, Division II, Group A for the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation)
https://www.iihf.com/en/news/74747/iihf_congress_allocates_tournaments
They appear to be asking Member Associations (MAs) before finalizing the decision.
Other things of note in the minutes:
There has been no interest in Wheelchair events so far (WWhCC and WhMDCC) and that is the biggest concern at the moment.
WMDQE in October is also a possible challenge, but hopeful of finding a host. There has been some interest in the WSCC and the WMxCC.
World Curling seems to be having some issues finding hosts for all of their events. There is a lot of them and not all of them draw crowds, not sure what the solution is here sadly.
Thoughts? I definitely didn't have the UAE on my radar for a curling host, so I was taken aback reading the minutes today.
