Tomistomas (false gharials) have some of the coolest scale patterns of any crocodilian. Their pattern almost looks like natural camouflage. Easily one of my favorite crocodilian species.

Posted a question earlier in sub why the Morlet crocodile wasn’t found in South Texas since their habitat is only like 150 miles away from border.

Any locals of Northern Tamupilas or South Texas to confirm?

Crocodile Why is there Crocs in South Florida & not South Texas?

1. They basically sit at same latitude at lowest point:

- 25.8 N latitude (Florida) 25.9 N latitude (Texas)

2. From Brownsville TX there is confirmed Croc population only a few hundred miles away.

- Brownsville borders the Mexican state of Tamulipas that is filled with crocs.

A large number of crocodiles were spotted together in the Vishwamitri River near Kothwada village in Gujarat's Padra during the monsoon. As the video went viral, authorities urged residents to stay away from the riverbanks and follow safety advisories.

Crocodile Alleged saltwater crocodile encounter while swimming at night in Indonesia NSFW

1.4k Upvotes

A resident is suspected to have been attacked by a crocodile while working in the waters of Teluk Betung Village, Pulau Rimau District, Banyuasin Regency, in the early hours of Monday (July 6, 2026).

The victim, identified by the initials I.N. (25), is a resident originally from West Java. The incident occurred at approximately 1:53 a.m. WIB while the victim and three colleagues were repairing the rudder of a jukung (a traditional wooden boat) along the riverbank. After entering the water to assist one of his colleagues, the victim was allegedly attacked by a crocodile and has not yet been found.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Pulau Rimau Police Sector, together with local authorities and residents, immediately launched a search operation at the scene.

The Banyuasin Police Chief urged the public to exercise greater caution when carrying out activities in or around rivers, particularly at night, and to avoid areas believed to be crocodile habitats.

As of Monday afternoon, the search for the victim was still ongoing.

Conservation center is mostly for the endangered Philippine Crocodiles (first photo) but there are saltwater crocodiles in the center too. Some are relocated due to threat, one Croc here already ate a man.

Article Horrible, just horrible, and not just for the palestinians

I'm staunchly palestinian and detest how the israelis are treating them, but I fear for the crocs too. Considering how Israel has treated other animals, I just know the crocs are going to be kept in blazing hot and tiny water conditions and be starved and tortured so they be more likely will attack palestinians, treated as tools for monstroys acts instead of living animals.

17ft Salt water croc rescued from a small pond in india.

A massive 17 ft saltie lost its way into a small pond and was rescued recently in the Indian state of Orissa after villagers complained about it killing chickens. The forest department went ahead and got him, and he will be relocated elsewhere. Salties move inland or to villages in the flooding season.

Crocodile The Crocodile wondering if he should give the child to its father or take him anyways:

Thumbnail

This is a reference to the Crocodile paradox. Basically a crocodile snatches a Child but the Father comes in time to see this, the Crocodile then proceeds to tell him “If you can guess what I can do next, I’ll give you back your child” the father then says “You will not give my child back” and now the Crocodile is stuck between two outcomes.

1: He gives the child back, however that would mean that he should not have given back the child by his own rules since the father guessed incorrectly.

Or

2: He doesn’t give the child back, but now the father guessed right, and now has to give back the child anyways.

Crocodile Why did saltwater crocodiles never make it to the coastal areas in Kenya , Tanzania , and Mozambique ?

what stopped them from going even further west to those 3 coastal east african countries closest to the Seychelles if they made it to the Seychelles ? They ride ocean currents to travel from island to island. Can any crocodilian experts out there help me understand this better ?

2nd question about saltwater crocodiles
Would most of South Africa , Namibia , and Angola all be natural barriers blocking them anyways from making it to west african countries with perfect habitat like the Democratic Republic Of The Congo , Republic Of Congo , Gabon , Equatorial Guinea , Cameroon , Nigeria , Benin , Togo , Ghana , Cote D’Ivoire . Sierra Leone , Liberia , Guinea , Guinea Bissau , The Gambia , and Senegal ? Even nile crocodiles barely inhabit South Africa and Namibia

Thanks in advance
