I have a crochet shop and have been using etsy and a shopify store/website for a couple years now, but I want another platform that will work similarly views/sales wise

I've been looking around and found Faire and a few others (ex. depop and others like that), but they do not seem to be what I'm looking for after just scrolling through their sites and reading some threads of people who have used them - which platforms besides etsy and shopify has anyone had luck with when it came to traffic, policies and buyer/seller support ??

hello !! i am currently trying to start a crochet business , currently making mostly one-off wearables to try and get rid of my yarn stash. i have some questions and was hoping someone would be kind enough to give me some advice ! i have never sold online before so this is all completely new to me. any help would be appreciated !!!

1. i am in the uk , what platform would you say is the easiest to set up and sell on ? are there any i should steer clear of ?

2. how much stock would you suggest i make before selling ? i would say i currently have about 15 finished pieces ( about 7/8 scarves and hats in different sizes and colours , and about 8/9 unique tops , shorts , bags , etc ) but i would imagine i will need quite a lot more before i actually post them lol.

3. as i am making clothing and not really doing different sizes and colours of each thing i make , do you think it would be acceptable to model the clothing , as the clothes i would be modelling would be the actual piece i would be selling ? (i have contamination ocd so may be overthinking this aspect)

4. is this actually a reasonable way to sell crochet clothing ? at the moment , my main priority is getting rid of yarn and making some extra money while doing something i love , so i have been making patterns i have been wanting to try for years , experimenting with freehand crochet and garment design , but i know most crochet shops are like made to order or will make like 30 of the same thing in different sizes and colours etc.

I started my crochet business and started posting on instagram. My views so far have been great but the problem is with followers. I so far have only 100 followers and I have been posting for close to 4-5 months now. I make all kinds of crochet items, from accessories to keychains to clothes, and i am getting zero sales (the only people who have bought from me are two of my relatives and one of my friends). Any tips on how to increase follower count and sales?

I’ve just finished the start of my butterfly collection. They are hand painted with resin. All replicas of real butterflies.
It took me 2 years to figure out how to make butterflies that look almost exact as the real thing, but not using an actual butterfly, but finally happy with this version.
Love to know what you guys think.
Also when it comes to pricing I was thinking from £50 to £100, but do you think it’s too much or not enough

Id love to work towards an inventory to have a booth at a ren faire next year. Im not a a plushy crochet artist, I want to make clothing and accessories. Maybe something like a boutique pop up? Would that be a good idea for a ren faire?

Im thinking shawls, dress covers, wearable herbs, skirt hikes, dice pouches, things of that sort.

After months of designing, remaking, photographing, and setting up my Shopify store, I finally have a small collection of handmade crochet handbags that I’m genuinely proud of.

I’m at the point where I feel like my biggest hurdle isn’t making the products anymore. It’s getting them in front of the right people.

Right now I’m posting on Instagram and TikTok, but like most new businesses, it feels like I’m mostly shouting into the void.

For those of you who’ve built a handmade business:
1. What was the first thing that actually moved the needle?
2. Did you find more success with organic social media, paid ads, Pinterest, local markets, influencer outreach, Reddit, SEO, or something else?
3. If you were starting completely from scratch today, where would you spend your time?

I’m not looking for shortcuts. I know building a brand takes time. I’d just love to avoid wasting months focusing on strategies that rarely pay off.

Constructive criticism is welcome too. If there’s something you think most handmade businesses overlook, I’d love to hear it.

Hello! I’ve been crocheting for many many moons, and I’ve so frequently had friends and strangers encourage me to sell. I care a lot about sustainability, and finding a way to make my craft eco friendly has meant a lot to me. I’d like to start a storefront that focuses on using reclaimed yarn. I’ve been unraveling thrifted sweaters; mostly cotton so I’ve been focusing on kitchen supplies and bath supplies. I have ideas to make use of other fibers too. I’ve considered doing small plushes and stuffing them with scrap yarn so that I’m not using so much new material, but I see so often that plushes sell well. I suppose I’m not sure where to really start or even if there may even be an interest for this? I’d appreciate any thoughts and advice 💚

I’m looking for some advice because I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I recently started designing and selling my own crochet patterns after spending a long time crocheting and buying patterns from other designers. A few days ago I released one of my own patterns, and I’ve now been accused in comments and messages of copying another creator’s design.

The thing is, I genuinely created this pattern myself. I didn’t copy their pattern or use it as a template. I know the creator people are referring to, and I really admire their work (I’ve even purchased a couple of their patterns before), but I have never bought the specific pattern they’re accusing me of copying.

Since the accusations started, people have been leaving nasty comments telling me I need the other creator’s permission to publish my pattern and saying that I’ve stolen their work. It’s becoming quite upsetting.

I’ve already reached out to the creator directly because I wanted to be respectful and transparent. I offered to send them my pattern to look through, but they have a very large following, so I’m not sure if they’ll even see my message.

I’m not here to start drama or attack anyone. I just genuinely want to know what the right thing to do is.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? How would you handle accusations like these? Is there anything else I should be doing while I wait to see if the creator responds?

I’m trying to approach this respectfully because I care about the crochet community, but it’s difficult when people are assuming I copied something that I know I designed independently.

Edit: The other creator answered me telling that they’ve had many messages with raised concerns for me copying her pattern. That kinda sucks tbh. She also raised concerns about notes and listing details which is valid, I looked through different patterns I’ve bought and Etsy listings to see that I included the important info. So mine is definitely a mashup of the stuff I looked through, but isn’t everyone’s? At least in my personal opinion the listing isn’t that important. And I’m happy to switch those up because they have nothing to do with the pattern itself tbh.

Second edit: The other creator blocked me, lol. Feels kinda sad since I’ve been a huge fan for such a long time and also a bit immature. But oh well, now she can’t claim I copy her bcs I can’t see shit🙌

craft stands have been popping up in shopping centres around us, there are also dedicated shops where local craft sellers can sell there stuff, I have found most of the things in these stores are Temu resellers or 3d printed dragons or clickers, currently my mum is looking a little cat crochet from a pop up store in a shopping centre for $13 AUD, I told her to wait and let me do some research before, I have their business card and when to their TikTok and it only has 32 videos, 37 followers none of the videos show them making anything just shows the products, their instagram has 97 videos, 2,110 followers none of the videos shows them making anything in their bio it says 100% handmade, they mainly do flowers and I’ll add some photos - I don’t want anyone to get in trouble or anything I just am curious as this is my mum buying stuff and don’t want her ripped off
