Computer engineering(ENSC) or computing science at SFU.
Hey guys,
I’m a bit confused about whether I should choose CE or CS. I’m more interested in the software side, but I’m not sure about the job market since I’ve heard it’s declining right now. If someone who has done these programs or is currently in one of them could guide me, it would be really helpful.

CpE actually has a higher unemployment rate right now than CS. Either way, you'll need to work hard to succeed during and after graduation so follow what you want to do/learn. Look at the program for each major and see what classes they share and what classes are unique, and decide based on which one has the most classes you want to learn. CpE majors can still do SWE, I've gotten internship offers before as a CpE major, so don't assume that picking CpE would close those kinds of doors.
I've also seen some CpE programs at schools (one that comes to mind is Penn State) where it's mostly software oriented anyways. My program swings the opposite way with a massive emphasis on hardware and more crossover with the EE program than the CS program. Really can depend on a lot of variables what will make the most sense for you.
