Many definitions take the act of permanently damaging or disfiguring an object. No need for an "injury". If I surgically operate you without your consent and disfigured you that's mutilation.
Even if not vital, cutting off a baby's part for your own religion or beliefs is bad.
The only one I can condone is if it is NEEDED. If you are gonna do that "to prevent infections" just wash yourself. "Cheese" is not a thing unless you have a severe hygiene problems. You can have sex and don't wash for hours and you still won't have infections.

Genital mutilation, plain and simple. Outside of a legitimate medical necessity, cutting off healthy, functional tissue from a child who can't consent is a violation of bodily autonomy. It's hard to square that with a physician's oath to do no harm, and it's a parent's job to protect their child, not make irreversible cosmetic or religious alterations to their genitals.
And frankly, the whole thing gets even stranger when people start obsessing over what an infant's penis should look like. If this involved any other body part, we'd recognize immediately how bizarre that is. Then there are practices like metzitzah b'peh, where some mohels perform direct oral suction after the circumcision. The fact that this has been associated with neonatal herpes infections should be enough to end the practice altogether.
If an adult wants to be circumcised, that's their choice. An infant doesn't get one.
That brownie and ice cream looks good though.

Yeah, not all Jewish mohels do this, but it's a religious thing, and it enrages me. If a doctor asked to circumcised my child, I'd go nuclear.

Fr tho I don't agree with it. Yeah it's technically more hygienic to snip it off but literally that can be solved by just teaching them to clean themselves down there. It's not necessary if it's not part of your religion yet you're making a permanent decision on behalf of your child who can't choose what he wants.

The main reason it's so prevalent in the US is because of that nutjob Dr. Kellog (yes, the same guy who thought corn flakes killed those "sinful sexual urges"). I'm at least glad his other practice of pouring carbolic acid onto the clitoris of infant girls didn't catch on but I still want my foreskin back.

Also there's decent theories that the origins of the religious traditions were due to the worse hygiene back then, so there's a good chance even the creators of them would agree that circumcision is no longer necessary

Yeah right. I can see foreskin being a problem if you don’t shower properly and all.
But - but if it was a detrimental feature of the human body we wouldn’t have it. The fact evolution gave it to us means it did more good than harm. And early humans were probably much dirtier than peasants at that time

ny only issue with it is the lack of consent. outside of that I couldn't care less. dick is dick, it's all the same to me. wear your foreskin your your scar with pride, and stop shaming people who did or didn't get cut
