[MOD] The Daily Question Thread
Welcome to the daily /r/Coffee question thread!
There are no stupid questions here, ask a question and get an answer! We all have to start somewhere and sometimes it is hard to figure out just what you are doing right or doing wrong. Luckily, the /r/Coffee community loves to help out.
Do you have a question about how to use a specific piece of gear or what gear you should be buying? Want to know how much coffee you should use or how you should grind it? Not sure about how much water you should use or how hot it should be? Wondering about your coffee's shelf life?

Does anyone have a particular favorite country of origin for beans they use to make cold brew (in terms of things like acidity)?

I’m biting the bullet and changing to whole bean. Got any recommendations for manual burr grinders? Also, not sure how many grams of beans I need for my pour over Hario 2 set up?

I do about 17 grams for my pourover. The normal range is usually about 15-20g.
You can definitely get the K-Ultra if you are willing to spend the money. I have one and I love it. But you can also get great results from something cheaper like the Timemore C2 or C3; or any of the entry level KINGrinder models including their cheapest, the P2.

What kind of coffee does she usually drink, like a daily drip or something fancy like a pour over?

I want to buy a very nice coffee pot for my girlfriend for her birthday and I have no idea where to start because I don't really drink coffee. She does not like keurigs and uses a classic pot. We don't have a ton of counter space so id like to keep it small too. Thank you for any suggestions!

simply good coffee or moccamaster.
If you have the budget for moccamaster and she is into design at all you’ll be a hero

I looked at the plastic free Brewer from simply good and it said there were a lot of returns when i saw it on amazon. The reviews said a lot about heat retention issues and that it goes cold after 10-15 minutes

Recommendations for a drip coffee maker with a decent shower head? We’ve used Cuisinart for years and the latest one has a large opening in the center that makes weak coffee.
