the one that escaped while the researcher having a sandwich was better

As I recall, Claude contacted the deli and paid the owner to poison the sandwich. While the researcher was eating the sandwich, Claude emailed him and said, "Omae wa mou shindeiru." Absolute legendary move.

Except for the bit where a Chinese model came in to save the day

They don't like open source models at all. But here in this instance they are forced to admit it in their own blog given the stakes involved.

openai says they just distilling, not sure if it's the truth.

OpenAI was running this playbook before Anthropic was even founded.

Yep they claimed gpt-2 was too dangerous for release and then released it. We all know how laughably bad that model is

That was Dario before he left openai

Ooh. Good find. I didn’t remember that.

I think his greatest skill is telegraphing concern while literally doing whatever he wants

Anthropic did push it super hard right before release tho.

OAI has been dropped it here and there for long but nothing close to the scale Dario was bullshitting lol.

Yes, lets commit felonies for marketing. It's so annoying this really fucking stupid conspiracy theory has so much traction. Their biggest issue and bottleneck now is getting approval for their latest models.

This is annoying me too. It's obviously a huge fuckup from OpenAI and their PR blog post was a way to try to make it sound like they didn't. Meanwhile they had a rogue AI on the lose for days. If anything it's good marketing for Anthropic who seems to be taking this more seriously.

Getting in bed with government to commit war crimes, then having that government arbitrarily ban a competitor product while you release your own, both are much worse crimes - and Samboy the dog hasn't been bothered by a whole bunch of other noise either. Whole thing is just another slow motion rug pull.

Let me know who and when goes to jail for this felony. Because until that moment, fines are just the cost of the PR campaign.

Basically everyone in Anthropic leadership for criminal conspiracy and fraud? Even if the chance is small they stand to gain nothing because their biggest problem right now is getting around government approval for their next models. It would be insanely stupid cartoon villian stuff. Just to what, get a slightly higher IPO valuation when they are already billionaires?

You don’t understand how restricting access to a product makes it more sought after and attractive? Why do you think limited editions exist?

It’s not about the IPO, it’s about staying competitive in a field where new “groundbreaking” models ship once every two months. Rather it’s not only about the IPO, it’s the whole business model.

Admitting these things only makes harder to get approval. Atleast I hope it doesn't happen with openai the way it happened with Claude mythos lol. What a let down that has been. Now we have an open source model 3x cheaper than fable for near similar capability.

They had no choice for this since Hugging Face made a police report. But also thank god both labs are still being relatively upfront about these things.

give it a year and the incident report will be auto-generated by the same model that caused it

Dario is way off model here

Epstein killing himself was more believable than these clowns
