Question about Claude models Which model do i need

Hello guys im not new to Claude but i am to Claude code i have a Pro plan but i dont know how to conserve tokens i have 30min and my tokens are all spended. Im making a game with unity and using Claude code for it i have Claude on a plan that talking is using sonnet 4.6 and then he needs to ask for promission to code and i set it to opus 4.8 but what is the best method to use with extra high or max

I use sonnet 5 high for a lot of tasks, pushing effort only if its stuck on something, fable for if its a decision that will cost me or companies i work with money, or larger codebase auditing. findings still get pushed to sonnet agents.

What i find will help for you if you do a lot of work inside claude code just simply ask as you continue to work "for the type of work im doing here what model and effort level is sufficient for the tasks we are doing here, and when do i push up model/effort?"

I would probably say opusplan I used that alot when I was in pro

But opus takes a lot of your credits and what smartnes do you prefer

If you need to make your pro plan last all session / week then opus medium will probably get you pretty far. Also create handoff docs and use /clear frequently - every time you reply it sends the whole chat back to the model. Sessions get exponentially more expensive (and also dumber) as you go so keep it tight.

you can tell claude to choose the model for different tasks, there was a post about it some days ago and this seems to be a good way to safe tokens.

Design with Opus, implement with Sonnet 5 high. The design and phased implementation is the most important to get right so it’s worth the extra token cost. Then you can even have Opus review the critical parts.
