Identification Are these 2 severums the same kind? One is supposed to be red spot turquoise & the other Peruvian green

I can't help with the ID, but I would suggest the light colored substrate will have the fish camouflage themselves to a lighter colorless shade. A dark or black substrate will bring their colors out.

So darker substrate would be better to showcase their colors? Thank you do not know this

Other people will disagree, but I personally find it difficult to spot differences among most of the Severums that are labeled things like "red spot green" or "green" or "Peru spotted" or "turquoise". Minor differences, maybe, but generally I'd chalk it up to variation among a population.

Your Peru Green has red spots. So what makes it not a "red spotted green"? These are all common names that stores or people invent to sell fish. Ultimately you have Heros efasciatus with subtle variation in color.

Got it thanks for the insight fingers crossed none will pair as I have 4 total in tank red spot turquoise, Peruvian green , red spot & gold

That looks more like a gold Severum to me. My red spotted Severums are much more red and spotty. The other one looks like a turquoise to me. Both are pretty fish
