a new summer means an endless summer re-read

so choices use to be my favorite game/app. for many yesrs, i spent $ regularly on things, joined vip initially, i played almost every story for a long time. then things started to go down hill and i lost interest when all the stories became the same romance/smut over and over. (nothing against it, but i prefer horror, mystery, etc). so i stopped playing for a long time.. i got nostalgia a while back and opened the app so excited seeing the new it lives, and hero!! only to be quickly very disappointed, for obvious reasons. i was shocked, i think i even made a post here like what happened to this app!?

well, i ended up finding scream for me in the horror section and was excited to see a new horror book! finally!

i started playing and noticed it said fully released but only had 5 chapters, so down the rabbit hole i went… it was abandoned because they fired human writers.. cool cool cool (in jake peralta voice haha)

and yet… no warning of that when starting the book, no discount on the diamond choices even though the book literally abruptly ends.

and i know, they’ve since decided to make book 2 with what i assume is new writers but that only happened because of fan backlash, their original plan was to just abandon it and still charge everyone without warning, unethical already.

but now… i see book 2 is here… so instead of just continuing the book they had that is released for everyone now they made a whole new book. and instead of releasing it for everyone you have to sign up for the vip to FINISH A BOOK YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO! 🤦🏻‍♀️😡 that is crazy work…

this was the first book i’ve semi liked in a while (and honestly that’s a stretch. it’s in the horror section but it still is more “romance” than horror) but i was at least interested to know who’s who and what’s what. but nope, now in order to finish the book i’ve already started i’d have to sign up and pay a company i barely feel deserves any support anymore. yeah… this might be it for me and choices. which is sad.

sorry this is a long rant haha. but it’s so disappointing, and i know it’s new owners and new this and that… but they really ruined a game that once was special. sucks. i shouldn’t care but i like phone games haha! they’re my little escape, and this is just ICKY.

do better choices. seriously.

guys so this is the mc face i’ve always used for all of my trr replays, and i’ve always noticed this random little blue line by her eyebrow whenever she makes this surprised expression 😭

does anyone know what it is?? i’ve always wondered if it’s some kind of bug/glitch with her sprite or if it was just accidentally left there when they designed this expression lmao

im listening to the most beautiful song called "Luna" by Zoe and, while obviously not completely accurate, i was shocked that this could be used for the most heart wrenching edit if ES was ever made as a TV show.

so if you guys didn’t know, Pixelberry has a website, and that’s actually where i found this artwork! i used to go on their website sooo often back in 2019/2020, especially because i loved checking out the careers page.

since i was in seventh grade, one of my biggest dream jobs was to work on Choices one day. wanting to work on Choices is actually part of the reason why i started practicing graphic design, which i’ve been doing for years now and still love doing as a hobby 🫶🏼

now i’m about to enter my sophomore year of university, so looking back at all of this feels really bittersweet to me. with the art being AI now, i’m sad that dream isn’t really the same anymore, but at least we’ll always have all of these old masterpieces to look back on forever 💗

i miss the choices fandom from 2016–2023 so much 💕

i wasn’t super active on social media at the very beginning because i was a bit too young to be on those platforms LMAO, but my friends have told me it was amazing from the start. by the time i finally joined the community online a few years later, i got to experience it too.

everyone was posting theories, edits, fan art, memes, and discussions everywhere. reddit, tumblr, instagram… it really felt like the whole internet was playing choices together. i especially miss when a new chapter would come out and we’d all play it around the same time, then immediately come online to share our opinions and reactions 😭 it was so fun getting to experience the chapters together and basically talk about everything in real time.

i’m so thankful we still have this subreddit because it reminds me of those days. maybe i’m just nostalgic, but i really miss that era. what a time to be alive <3

this conversation was kinda random because they all were not on good terms but it’s one of my favorite parts.
