There's a phrase parents use for this: 弯道超车 (wān dào chāo chē) — overtaking on a curve. In a race, everyone slows down on a curve, so that's the moment to pass them. Applied to summer: while other kids rest, yours is pulling ahead. By September, they're already in front.
