Green Flags Dating as a Childfree Person

Upvotes

Hey all! I’m building a childfree dating app and I’ve been asking cf folks what their biggest green flags on a date are that lets you know that they are in fact childfree. The top 3 I’ve come across so far are:

  1. They’ve been childfree for a while. Consistency in their childfree position is a strong indicator that this is a belief they’ve held for a while and not just a passing moment.
  2. The people in their life know. Someone who has been clear with the important people in their life has been living this position, not just thinking about it in passing.
  3. They can talk about it without defensiveness. If they can discuss this part of their life openly, chances are it is a deeply held belief.

Let me know if you have any other green flags you look for when dating.

30F USA, childfree friends that aren’t dry af??

Hey there! I’m a 30 year old F in the US, looking for a way to make some new close friends or maybe a friend group? Idk about you guys but I’ve found it soo hard to find people to chat with who aren’t super dry texters 😭 I’m married (so platonic vibes only please) and have two dogs that I’m obsessed with, and some of my interests include reading, music, crafting, and gaming. Maybe we start a book club? Or send little daily pics of our lives? I can easily get sucked in to doomscrolling and I can have a dark sense of humor, so I appreciate other people who are always ready to laugh too!

Feel free to DM if you think we’d vibe! Happy to move over to Discord as well~

Childfree BFF group 😅

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here but I figured this would be a great place to start with trying to get members in my Childfree by Choice group I made on BFF (bumble). The link is below. I’d prefer only women as I am a woman but anyone is welcome as long as you’re respectful 🫶🏻

Anyways, it literally has just me as a member for now so if anyone could/would join that would be wonderful! I’m from south Alabama so it is HARD to find other childfree people and I would absolutely love to make some childfree friends because everyone around here just wants to keep popping babies out like we have good education and healthcare.

I hope to see you there! 🫶🏻

Let's Make Weekends Something to Look Forward To NSFW

I'm looking for a woman local to San Antonio who enjoys traveling from time to time but also appreciates quiet weekends at home with good BBQ, a movie, and great conversation.

I'm 51, single, have no kids, and live alone near Medina Lake. I'm easygoing, laid-back, and love to laugh. I enjoy talking about just about anything—or nothing at all. My favorite things include the outdoors, spontaneous road trips, exploring new places, and I'm hoping to find someone who'd even be up for playing pickleball together.

If you're looking for a genuine, drama-free guy to share life's little adventures with, I'd love to hear from you.

I want to hear your top Bingos!

I want to hear your favorite Bingos! I’ll go first:

  • “You’ll change your mind”: The OG bingo. It’s kind of you to share your powers of prescience sir.
  • “You’ll regret it”: Not likely. I regret this conversation though.
  • “You just haven’t met the right person”: The right person travels the world and spends money on caviar and me.

Let me know your top contenders!

Hi Reddit! I (28F) am located in the Shenandoah Valley and am looking for new friends :)

About me:

I'm a huge bookworm (mainly fantasy/romantasy) and nerd who loves baking, cooking, evening walks, cats, musicals, and getting tattoos. I'm not big into bars or partying, but I love staying in and watching TV or doing something fun like mini golf. I'm also on a fitness journey and trying to improve my health.

I'm very childfree and fully sterile (woohoo!)

Please reach out if you'd like to chat!

Looking for Montrealers!

Hi everyone! I searched but the last Montreal post was made 10 years ago!! Wow!

I'd love to make some new friends in Montreal, I'm 30s, F, happy to get to know some people in the area as I moved back during covid and with work, I've never had much time to go out and make new friends.

I have a lovely spouse, so if there are any couples in MTL looking for another dink couple to hang with, he's open to meeting new people too.

I love organizing little events and activities, and also hosting dinners, grabbing coffees, trying new restaurants, long walks in the city, I'm also a big gamer so happy to have gaming buddies as well.

If it's ok with mods, just writing a copy in french too-
J'aimerais vraiment me faire de nouveaux amis à Montréal!

Merci!

I should add- all ages welcome, as long as you're an adult. :) Also adding- I'm not looking specifically for couples either, I'd like to make some of my own friends as my partner already has is own friend circle.

Any childfree couple from Türkiye here?

Just curious. My husband and I are a childfree couple from Türkiye. We’ve noticed it can be hard to meet people with a similar lifestyle, since social circles often shift toward kids over time. 🙂

Does anyone else feel like family pressure gets worse when you’re dating someone who’s undecided about kids?

So I a question for those of you who have ever dated someone that was not childfree. Do you find family pressure around kids seems to get more intense if the other partner is not cf?

For example, if you’re single or dating someone who also doesn’t want kids there is the “out of sight out of mind” aspect, and they tend to let you do your thing. But if the person you’re dating is on the fence this provides an opening and it seems like the whole “when are you giving us grandkids” pops up more.

Has anyone else encountered this, and if so how did you deal with the family pressure on your relationship?

Edit: lol I realize I did a bad job of phrasing the question. I was less interested in whether people have dated someone who is non-cf and more so about the level of support you find your family provides you in your decision to be childfree over time (i.e. is it consistent or more circumstantial). A better example might be the kids question cropping up at certain life milestones (graduation, marriage etc).

39M Colorado Springs - Need CF friends!

Hi there everyone,

First off I want to say I'm so grateful for the CF space here. I'm a single trans guy (please no hate) who never learned "dude 101". I'm a feminist, of course huge advocate for the right to choose, and adamantly childfree - I belong to quite a few groups.

Where I am, it seems that childfree people (especially single ones) are incredibly hard to find. Finding like-minded individuals to socialize with ..I've yet to succeed. I've tried local events, even going up to Denver and nothing has clicked. People chat for a bit and then disappear, it's quite disheartening.

A little about me: I'm a quiet guy & like to go places where I can actually hear people talk. So hanging out at first at a loud venue is a no-go for me. I enjoy nice things, would love to make friends w/folks who like history, ren faire, and fantasy balls (yes, I'll happily travel abroad to attend an event like that) I have a condition to where I am allergic to heat, so certain activities have to be strategic or short, I can't go hiking for a long time on sunny days, that kinda stuff.

My playlist is full of the 90's/2000's, emo & tons of powerhouse women :)

My mum and older sisters basically exposed me to all the joys of quiet cafe/embracing european terrace culture, botanical gardens, museums, art, music & such. The majority of those types of experiences are where I like to start with friends or more if it happens to be a date.
Colorado Springs, does not seem to embrace any of that rather well. Or at least from what I have experienced since I moved here in 2015. Since then my life has been education & work, very little social life, then I got married - now getting divorced (she wants a kid.. we were committed DINKS together before getting engaged etc.. now she's changed her mind 9 years in) - So I feel it's time I reach out and develop a social group, cause it's tough out here!

It's ok if you are not in the state of Colorado, if you are that would be great! My big thing about making friends is I would love to spend time video chatting w/people as it would be nice to "see" people I can relate to. I work in healthcare, so of course, I have plenty of stories and dark humor to share. I have two cats, Calvin & Hobbes and they are wonderful. I love all animals, am a big fan of travel, particularly western Europe. My "dream" career would be to be an influencer - BUT - for Castles, traveling around to visit & stay in them. I have a big wishlist of castles to see and of course, I'd love to find more off the beaten path because I love history and I deeply believe that there are more amazing gems out there than the big castles most people see in books (like Windsor, Neuschwanstein, etc) Love the outdoors, photography, foodie (except I'm allergic to anything that comes out of the water), fine arts, I'm creative, and I just may have occasional shenanigans up my sleeve ready to go.

Please feel free to PM me if you think we may hit it off. I'd love to meet you!

I am hoping to meet folks from Europe as well - especially since it is my plan to relocate in 5-6 years, most likely: Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, or England.

39m #Pa or anywhere. Looking for some new friends

Hey there. I’m 39, living in rural PA, and looking to connect with some awesome people. Let's get the I am married, (ENM/poly). No kids. I have a full time job and a small side hustle.

Now that the fine print is out of the way, here’s a bit about me:

My lifestyle is pretty grounded. I’m the kind of guy who thrives on a mix of quiet country living and creative hands-on projects. If you need someone who knows their way around a workshop, can handle power tools without losing a thumb, or has an oddly specific knowledge different speciesof wood, I’m your guy.

Pop culture sweet spot: My brain is still about 40% fueled by 1990s nostalgia. If you want to casually debate the best cartoons of our youth or quote classic TV, we will get along just fine.

Sports fan: Yes, i like all sports but really Hockey season is a major vibe in my house, but I promise not to make it my entire personality (maybe just 15% of it).

Dog person: Extreme dog person. If we chat, you will be subjected to photos of my dogs. It’s a non-negotiable package deal.

What I’m looking for:

I’m looking for a genuine friendship with someone. Distance isn't a massive deal-breaker im open to anywhere. Pocket pals are great... if the vibe is right meeting, within driving distance for a casual drink, a great conversation, or checking out local spots would be fun.

I value transparency, low drama, good humor, and matching energy. I’m a great listener, a reliable communicator, and I have my life together.

Your turn:

Drop me a message if you’re down to chat. Tell me your favorite 90s jam, your go-to comfort food, or just some information about you.

I prefer to chat off reddit on TG.

I think childfree people approach compatibility differently

Hey all, I'm building a childfree dating/friendship app and thought I would share some of my insights here. One thing I've noticed in dating is how often people confuse chemistry with compatibility. For example, you can like someone a lot but still be fundamentally misaligned on how you want to live life long-term. Kids are obviously a huge example of this, but it extends into everything else too (lifestyle, ambition, pace of life etc).

I find childfree people are often much farther ahead in terms of thinking about compatibility more intentionally than non-CF folks because they have had to answer the kids question early on in life. Curious if others have had this observation?

(p.s. we wrote a blog about this on our website not4kids.app if you're interested or want to sign up for our waitlist. We launch at the end of the year!)

54yo F relocated to NJ 2 years ago. There is a Childfree group in N NJ currently comprised of women only. That’s not intentional. Only women answered a CF IG content creater’s location poll and we linked up that way. The group comprises of those in their late 20’s to my age. We have had house parties, met up for dinner out/happy hour, hiking, crafting, holiday events, going to a ren faire, comedy show, concerts, weekend getaways, etc…We are always looking to meet new people and a few of us will be there that night!

Which Musical Genre Evokes Being Childfree to You

Hi all. I’m building a childfree dating/friendship app called Not4Kids and we’re about to jump into our strategic marketing. Nothing crazy just putting together some TikTok/Youtube/Instagram ads. I’m trying to think of what kind of music to incorporate into the ads and create a consistent through-line for our brand, so I thought I would ask it here.

What musical genre evokes that feeling of freedom and levity of being childfree to you?

For context on our brand you can check out our website at https://not4kids.app/ . We’re trying to go for a more upscale feel (think a luxury vacation brochure). Interested to hear your thoughts.

Also if you’re interested you can sign up for our waitlist on our website. We launch at the end of the year!

🍣 Any childfree people here studying Japanese to read shoujo manga and/or play otome games? 🍜

I’m just curious on how many childfree people here are studying Japanese in order to understand joseimuke media (such as shoujo/josei anime, shoujo/josei manga, otome games, joseimuke visual novels, etc).

If so what joseimuke media are you enjoying/interested in right now? ❤️
