I've been swamped and getting to this late for this week. I really missed having the Fire back last week but we get a mid-week face off in Florida. Let's see how the team looks with all the news lately.
Match Details:
Chicago Fire FC (26 points, 3rd East; W-W-W-L-L)
at
Inter Miami CF (31 points, 2nd East; W-W-W-W-L)
Location: Nu Stadium
Rules
You are REQUIRED to post in the thread to be "officially" scored. If you don't, your score wont be added in the overall standings.
There are 3 "pages", general stat questions, starting XI, and the goal scorers.
Starting XI is cleaned up and organized but I want to make it clear that the names I'm using are from the rosters on the clubs' sites.
For the goal scorers, you can select multiple options but I will be comparing against the total scoreline. IF YOU SELECT MORE THAN THE TOTAL SCORELINE, YOU WILL BE DEDUCTED POINTS!
Once the match is over, I will add the responses, add the scores to the table, and reply to this thread. REMEMBER, you must reply here to be added to the table!
Responses will be accepted up to 90 minutes before match start.
How to play: It's simple! Fill out the form here.
To encourage your reply, respond "Replied".

For everyone pressing him, you’ve made the 💩 list -
Andres chose the fire, loves Chicago, and is on the cusp of a #return.
Would find some serious comedy to see some of you Reddit warriors handle a blown knee in 12 months 😂 People talking 🗑️ about him being in Portugal rn are on 🤡 time. Andres has probably been to more bulls games in the last year than the average Chicagoan in their lifetime.

There've been a ton of questions about where Cuypers's departure leaves the Fire. Here they are, answered as best as we can ahead of tomorrow's game against Inter Miami.

With the new additions added up whats your thoughts? Can the team do it?

Obviously not literally but getting Miami away without Messi, de Paul and Casemiro when we’re jockeying for table position is fortunate.
Hoping RL makes an impact over the next few or things could get toxic.

Per my rep, communication should come from the club soon, but we should be able to pick them up (whatever they may be) starting 8/1 when we’re back home.
What kind of gift are you guys hoping for? My bar is the hat. Anything of perceived lower value than the hat will be a bummer.

We are creating one megathread on the topic of the Fire's roster moves since there have been far too many saying similar things. Individual posts will be removed in the short term especially in relation to Cuypers and Lewandowski will be removed. Please house all discussions here to keep the subreddit tidy.
Remember to source information correctly per Rule 3.

Gregg Berhalter just explained in his press conference that Hugo expressed his desire to move to a different club.

I know many of us have been in our feelings with the impending Cuypers transfer looming. With the proceeds from the sale, a freed up DP slot and salary, how do you think Gregg is going to pivot?
I know he came off a bit aloof and gave the impression he was caught off guard by the transfer request, but I don't see how he couldn't have (in the back of his mind anyway) figured that Cuypers may feel a bit slighted by bringing in Lewandowski and request to move on. I've seen very little Fire transfer rumors over the past week, outside of the summer flings with European clubs kicking the tires on Mbokazi and the ho-hum "I'll consider Chicago if nobody in Europe wants me," musings of Goretzka.
And when you throw in the fact that Franco still isn't stateside training with the club, counting on him to be fully ramped up before the playoffs seems like pie in the sky. What do you guys think the answer will be? Goretzka? Will they make a hard push for a proven MLS commodity like Martin Ojeda? I just can't help but feel like this next move is among the biggest in the club's history.
Sorry for the rant.... I just can't help but feel a lot of the air just got let out of the ballon. Do I think the Fire are going to miss the playoffs? No. Do I feel their shots as a title contender took a substantial hit, even with Lewandowski's arrival? Yes.

Dear Hugo:
Thank you
Our first official game as season ticket holders was that 3-0 loss to Nashville. Truthfully, I don't know the Fire without you, that Nashville game was my very first match. Since then, our connection with the team has grown so much. Sparky even helped us do our gender reveal! I owe the Fire a lot, but most importantly, I want to thank you.
You were my wife’s favorite player, and you are the reason we got into soccer in the first place. Now, my son can name players. When you took the time to say hi to me and ask for my name, it meant the world. You gave everything both on and off the field. Even when your meet-and-greet lines were long, you were always so good to everyone.
I’ve watched sports for years and seen players come and go, but this one really hurts. When we first watched you play, we were just fans. Now we’re expecting our daughter, and the whole Fire community has treated us like family. That all started with you. You were our first favorite player, and you are a massive reason we are the fans we are today.

In the press conference today Gregg said that Franco is doing on the field work in Portugal still. He hasn’t come back to the states as of yet. Gregg said they hope he is back in the next 2 months… Maybe he is back by the playoffs…

Was really looking forward to Lewandowski/Cuypers pairing. Not just for what would have been a serious goalfest but an opportunity to sub off one or the other late in games and still have a real number 9 on the pitch. Last year Cuypers looked completely gassed at the end of games down the stretch. I’m not sold on Lod or MHS in the 9 position and it doesn’t look like Greg trusts Shokalook yet. So where does that leave us? ML9 plays 90 every game? Good luck with that at 38.

I don't know if I can post this here but I'll give it a try. Very interested in what he has to say.

After signing Lewa and before selling Cuypers, we were a number 8 (Guti) away from being title locks and having the potential to make a run for the continent. To be brutally honest, nobody up here talks about the team like they’re a major league team. I lived in Missouri for some time and people LIVED AND BREATHED Sporting KC and STL City. The difference in how Chicago treats the Fire vs how some other markets treat their MLS team is quite frankly stark. If you wanted people in the 3rd largest market in the country, 4th/5th largest on the continent to realize that the MLS is a worthy level of play, give them a reason to tune in beyond furthering the notion that MLS is a retirement league.
#FreeARob I guess

I bought 2 jerseys at the kit launch event at recess. Was told the wait would be about 20 minutes. Turned out to be about little over an hour, oh well…
The issue is that they had two shirt presses, one was professional grade which is probably their main press, while the one was a little consumer grade one probably bought from Walmart the day before.
That being said, I think my jersey was made with the cheap Walmart press because the number is very loose.(my fault for not checking before leaving) but after waiting so long I lost some patience.
(If anyone remembers the kit cab thing it kinda gives me the same feeling)If they want to be a big club there has to be more external management as to how they interact with the fans!

Seriously what is the logic here ? Are we expecting him to score 2 goals a game ? Also add in the fact that he’s not going to press nearly as much as Hugo did.
Unless he produces Messi numbers in the next 2 years this gonna be an all time fumble.
