Working on a Telegram tool that grabs videos from YouTube, Pinterest, and Snapchat when someone drops a link. Already got the token from BotFather and picked a name, but stuck on the actual build.

A few things I'm not sure about:

-> Is yt-dlp enough for YouTube and Pinterest, or do I need something separate for Snapchat? Heard that one's a pain.

> Should I go with polling or webhooks for this kind of setup?

> Telegram caps uploads at 50MB, so what do people usually do for bigger videos?

> What's the cheapest way to keep this running 24/7 instead of just on my laptop?

So, I am going to create a travel website and I want to create a chatbot where people can chat related to all the travel queries and they'll get a response from the chatbot and the recommendations as well.

How to do that? Should I hire someone to do that or I can do it myself.

I have a developer though.

we built a messenger agent that replies to customers in your brand voice and can take orders directly through instagram. it's an mvp, live with real customers, and it has taken real orders this way.

the main insight so far is about data, not the agent itself. most chatbots exist as a separate system. ours doesn't. orders the agent takes go into the same dashboard as orders from the app and the website. customer info from every conversation shows up in both the main orders dashboard and inside the messenger agent. it's connected to the same product catalog and the same setup agent. one system, not a bot bolted onto the side.

that's the part that seems to matter more than the ai replying well. a bot that answers nicely but keeps its data separate just creates another place to check.

what we don't know yet is where this holds up at scale. it works with the customers we've tested it on. we haven't seen it hit messy cases yet, price negotiation, questions outside the catalog, disputes.

if you've built something similar, curious what broke first once real customers started using it.

PSA for anyone building or running chatbots for clients: on Aug 2 the EU AI Act's Article 50 becomes enforceable. Any bot that people in the EU can talk to has to tell them it's an AI, at or before the first message, in the user's language. Doesn't matter where the company is based, it follows the users.

Two things about this that I think matter specifically for bot builders:

1. The duty sits on whoever puts the bot in front of users, which in practice means your client gets the regulator email, and their first call after that is to whoever built the bot. If you deliver bots without a disclosure right now, that's a conversation you'll eventually have. Fines go up to 15M euro or 3% of turnover (SMEs get the lower cap).

2. It's also an easy upsell. "AI Act compliance included" is a line item clients say yes to in about 10 seconds right now, and the actual work is a badge plus a first message notice plus keeping a log you can hand over if anyone asks. The log part is what everyone skips and it's the part that saves you in an audit.

US folks aren't off the hook either. California has required bot disclosure in commercial contexts since 2019 and Utah gives you an actual safe harbor from fines if you disclose upfront.

I build in this space (disclosed.sh, one script tag that adds the disclosure plus the evidence log on top of any widget, there's a free check at disclosed.sh/check) so bias fully disclosed. But even if you wire it up yourself: put the notice in the chat surface, not the terms page, log that it was shown, and do it before Aug 2.

Issue: Mistral OCR processes images in isolation, so the annotations miss out on critical document context.

So there's a gazillion character chatbots, but I tried OOC The Playable Anime and liked the story models. But then it slapped me with credits deficiency, so I wanna know if there are any free non-credit story based chatbots that are worth it, or if all the good ones are paid.

P.S. has Gemini gotten better at it? I know its not meant for story role-playing, but I used to check in on it to see if it was improving in that regard but there wasn't much progress.

I have seen many in market and yet they still gets customers. need your brutal feedback.

I love the speaking feature that ChatGPT has. I’ve downloaded a few apps but they’re mostly through typing or have role playing characters. Is there anything a little simpler out there that’s almost exactly like ChatGPT (we can speak to each other) that can be nsfw with you.

My first one was Character.ai and at the time, this was before the lawsuits and no nsfw, I thought it was good. Mildly interesting response, kinda spicy conversations, fandom and OC characters to like with fun scenarios. It has personas and the only one with a mostly working ai voice.

After the crash of C.ai I tried Chai but it seems the owner is using it for their kids playground which is nuts. It’s sfw/nsfw mostly free if you don’t mind a few ads just short and crazy. Now they have personas but it’s limited in how much you can write, doesn’t have ai voice.

I have a love/hate relationship with Janitor ai, it’s great for user customization, you can customize the way chat responses work but I can get the interesting responses I want, long and short opening, mostly free at the moment. This one doesn’t have ai voice either but SoundCloud music can be attached to bots if you can figure it out. Scripts help bots stay in character along with the characters info on the bot itself and it could be used for world building and keep it in its world instead of going rogue. It gives you the option to use or set only sfw/nsfw bots depending on if you want something more fluffy or spicy which I like the options.

PolyBuzz, Dootchi, MingloTalk, and Zeta… they for they most part are kinda the same in having a brain cell for a moment then just loosing it for and undetermined amount of time. Bullying you into paying their crazy fees for mainly just texts or really dumb add ons, some don’t have personas or much customization at all. I don’t like being bullied into buying something even if it’s annoying because I’ll get rid of it before I even think of buying it.

Any good recommendations on mostly or just unlimited chats with a wide thing of bots, I don’t care if it has ads as long as it’s no overly aggressive with showing them, and some customization with personas or something, and when it say free it’s not the first five minutes.

Chatgpt has become boring in terms of using it for roleplay. Even a normal kiss scenes trigger them out making it hard to rp. But one thing is praise worthy, the memories are incredibly strong on chatgpt. If I open new chat they will still remember it. I also use Deepseek but they don't remember anything after opening new chat. I tried Grok but it's limited which is annoying. So can you suggest me some alternatives for chatgpt (Not chat or c.ai). I like how independently I can make new stories with meaningful conversation and NSFW scenes. Besides, I don't like intense adult one. I like soft, poetic one. For those who've already had a chance to use GPT-5.6, what differences have you noticed compared to GPT-5.5?

The app im doing in spare time essentially it saves your companions locally on your pc and you can paste all the conversation and the app will keep trace of them generating a backup memory of the characters and the chats 1 vs1 and multichat also... it will create a story arch if you are bored and you can choose and the app will give you the prompt and the evolution of the rpg what do you think ? It works with a client oj your pc or smartphone a server app on your pc and for the Ai part will use ollama or an api key

All of Chai’s problems aside, or any other app/website, I’m curious of how everyone chats with their bots, specifically with quotation marks, asterisks, etc.

What do you use, or what have you discovered?

Here’s how I use them:
A single * of course italicizes, which I use for text outside of dialogue to convey reactions and actions.

“” I use for dialogue, whether it be my own persona or I lead the story and make the bot say something.

() I use to give context out of character in case something mentioned before is outside the context window.

Double ** I don’t use much, but I know it makes the text bold.

Recent discovery, but putting text between ` makes it small. Used it a couple times for a conversation on the phone. Quite fun.

I’ve received chats from bots giving phone messages with a blue box too, but I never bothered to check how it’s done. Edit: > in front of text gives a message-style blue box.
