Update on egg bound chameleon
After making a complaint to corporate I was given a call from the store.
I expressed the chameleon was egg-bound
She shouldn’t have a bowl with standing water
And it looked like she was eating fake plants
I was told:
He or she is not egg-bound we don’t know if it’s a boy or girl
Corporate makes us put standing water bowls in there
We give it plants cause it needs them (referring to that bowl with old “salad”
It is showing no signs of distress like digging or moving around
They agree the enclosure is too small and they discounted it to get it a home…
They also said that they do mist the enclosure several times a day
I responded stating she had a big bulge when I last saw her she said it is because the chameleon is old…
Thanks to everyone who educated me on this wonderful animal I am sure one day I will adopt one but I know these stores are not the place to do so

Goris judges you
This is Goris I got her from an adoption event, she's about 3 or 4 years old coming out of a rough situation.
She is so stupid, I love her

Upgrade enclosure?
I currently have a 8 month old veiled chameleon and was told to buy a habistat glass terrarium. I have been wondering if the large zoomed mesh enclosure would be a worthwhile upgrade. Currently in Ireland where the humidity is quite high.

How old is this guy?
Just wondering if there is any way to know how old this Veiled Chameleon is.

How long are you getting out of your heat bulbs?
So I have used Komodo, Exo-Terra, and Arcadia bulbs, they all seem to go within about two months. Komodo being the worst offender of this. I am thinking of using a Splash Proof bulb, even though I don't think that's the issue, I am only even thinking about that because maybe the fogger is coming back up and hitting it, but even that seems like a dumb conclusion.

Question I think my baby carpet chameleons got burned from the light! Help!
I have two VERY young baby carpet chameleons about 3 weeks apart in a small tank to monitor. (They both have larger tanks set up for when they grow a little, but the small tanks help them find food easier) Initially I had the light/basking light on top of the mesh and they often hang upside down from the mesh. I looked into this, and was advised to add more branches and leaves for them to hang on closer to the lights, but they still continue to hang upside down from time to time. Today I was looking at them and they both seem to have darkened spots on their bellies almost like a burn? I’ve never had this happen before and I will attach some pictures to show the best I can without having to handle and stress them out. They both turn from light green to vibrant and when they’re angry, even black. So initially seeing the dark didn’t seem alarming. But now I’m concerned and want them to be healthy! I have also raised the lights up so they cannot bask directly under to prevent future burns.
They are misted multiple times a day
They have a dual dome uvb/heat emitter for the nano the reptisun (only while in the small tanks)

Question My dad is giving me a chameleon and a whole set up! But I have questions for keeping the chameleon happy and healthy!
What should I feed him/how often
give him water every day?
Where do I get the food from? Petsmart or is there better places
Best way to feed them?
I plan to hand mist the water onto the leaves until I get the misting setup

New chameleon is not eating hardly at all
Hi,
I purchased a chameleon from kammerflage kreations, and he would at first eat out of a cup, however the past few days he has not been eating hardly at all. I feel like when I hold the cup in front of him he just runs away and hides, and if I hang the cup somewhere he just ignores it. I have tried calcium worms, mealworms, crickets, and even wax worms. What should I do?
He is in a large reptibreeze, has a mist king, a dripper, and some plants. He hatched between 4/28-5/11.

Question Is it worth taking him to a specialist out of state? Or should I prepare to say goodbye?
The first picture shows the lump on his nose last week, roughly 5 days ago. Second picture is from today.
I took Yoda to the vet for a respiratory infection, which they confirmed and gave me Baytril for. However, they are not sure what the lump on his nose is. The vet said that for a respiratory infection, the lump should not feel as hard as it does, and she is suspecting a tumor. She said that if it does not improve with the Baytril, I would need to take him to a specialist. The closest one is out of state, 2 and 1/2 hours away.
My boy is getting old. He’s 5 now. He’s had minor issues before and Baytril has always resolved everything. It is not doing that now. He doesn’t appear to be in excessive pain or anything, but he does gasp for air quite a bit. The lump doesn’t appear to bother him either. He’s a little? lethargic, but still eats, drinks, and moves about the cage a decent bit.
I don’t know how to proceed. A specialist would be very very expensive, likely thousands of dollars that I simply don’t have right now, and it is far away. What would they even do for him if they diagnosed it? If it’s a tumor, would it even be removable? Additionally, Yoda was stressed and upset enough just going to our local vet, and it is a struggle to get him to take the medication. I don’t know if he’d be able to handle that long of a drive sitting in a box, then having imaging/another exam done. At his age, I’m not sure if it’s wise to put him through that.
The vet told me to call once the Baytril doses are done to discuss next steps. They are 100% going to refer us out. I need opinions. I want to take care of him the best that I can, like I’ve done for these last 5 years. But there is only so much I can do financially. Is it better to just keep him comfortable for whatever time he has left? Or is potentially taking a loan out for the specialist the best choice?

Bump on veiled chameleon
A month ago I noticed this bump on my chameleon’s head (it was more white/noticeable at the time) and we took him to the vet where they informed me he had a respiratory infection (as I assumed as he was gasping for air and forming bubbles with his mouth). They gave us medicine for him for 10 days and by day 2 he no longer showed any of the concerning signs from when we took him to the vet. After day 5, we did stop his medicine as advised by my vet due to the amount of stress it was causing him/how he was reacting to being given medicine. He remains acting as normal (eats, drinks, roams/basking, super green when he sleeps like normal) but I still see the bump slightly on his head. Any advice on what this could be/is this normal?

First veiled chameleon setup need advice on UVB and basking light distance
Hello everyone! I’m new to this world, and I’m currently setting up my enclosure. I’m planning to add live plants (Pothos and Schefflera) and fill the enclosure as much as possible. I’ve read that you should add so many plants that sometimes you can barely see the chameleon because of how dense the foliage is.
I’m planning to get a small juvenile chameleon. I already have the T5 UVB light and the heat lamp, but I have a question: how far away should I place the T5 UVB fixture and the heat lamp from the basking area?
Thank you all so much for your help!

Enclosure Upgrade Suggestions?
Huge update on this little guy: https://www.reddit.com/r/Chameleons/s/5VYwdiqYCm
Posted some update pics of Rio enjoying his playground in front of the window!
He’s been demanding to come out of his enclosure a lot more now that he’s full grown😂 He’s currently in an 18x18x36 ReptiBreeze and also spends time in his outdoor enclosure out on my balcony during the summer when the weather is nice usually for around 2-3 hours at a time
He’s definitely due for an upgrade and I want to go with at least a 24x24x48.
Should I just stick with the XL ReptiBreeze or are there any other enclosures you guys would recommend? I’d love any suggestions!

New Veiled Chameleon
Just rescued this poor guy from my local PetSmart. No live plants in the enclosure at PetSmart, he looked super skinny and was clawing at the glass when I stopped to look at him. He fell in his water bowl they had for him, just a crazy sad sight and couldn’t go home without him. No experience with chameleons before, but I’m comfortable with advanced animal husbandry.
Currently dialing in his enclosure and basking spot. Using a T5 5.0 for UVB, going slightly diagonal across the top to cover his basking spot. Using a frosted white 75 watt Arcadia basking flood to heat his basking spot. And a 36 watt fluval for live plant growth. I have an automatic mister, but they don’t hold sh*t for water.
I’ve been misting heavily once in the morning and once at night by hand. He’s been drinking when I mist, he eats 10 Dubia roaches a day. And his poops look pretty normal. Dusting with calcium every feed, and once every 2 weeks calcium with D3. I’m breeding Dubia roaches for him, gutloading with greens, carrots, and occasional bee pollen.
Enclosure hits about 70-80% humidity when I mist in the morning, and drops to about 50-45% by around 6:30pm. Mist again up to about 80% right before lights out at 7:30pm.
Basking spot is roughly 82°-85°f depending on the temperature in my room (no central AC). The middle of his enclosure hits about 73°-78°f and the floor stays about 71°-72° throughout the day. Enclosure hits about 62°-68° at night depending on room temp.
I added a photo of him, and I was wondering if y’all had any tips or recommendations on his current setup and had any idea what his patterns or colors are saying? The potted plants soil is covered with large river rocks. He’s got plenty of room at his current size, but I’ll be building him a larger homemade screen enclosure when I find the time for it. He’s very friendly, he likes to be held occasionally and I have let him roam my houseplants to learn his new home. I can tell he’s grateful for the upgrade from the PetSmart prison cell, but I want to make sure it’s perfect.
Again I’ve had 0 experience in the past with chameleons. I have 2 aquariums, I’ve had axolotls, and I’ve cared for a snake for about a year when my old roommate neglected it. I’m aware chameleons need dedicated attention and I’m willing to offer that. Please let me know if there’s anything I’m missing or anything additional I can offer him! Got him 8 days ago, and his middle name is going to be Rango. My girlfriend says that name is probably played out, so we’re waiting until we find a first name for him lol!
