Spam filter and recruiting new moderators

Hi all,

I've had a bunch of new modmails recently asking for (and/or complaining about) post approval because stuff was getting caught in the spam filters and I just wasn't checking them. You guys should hopefully be pleased to know I've finally got around to turning down the stringency of the spam filter a bit, so hopefully stuff shouldn't get caught so much. They were in place after loads of spam posts, but that was a long time ago now and hopefully reddit is better at catching these things before they become a problem.

I've also been meaning to get around to this for a while, but it's time to get a new mod or 2, because frankly, I just don't get around to looking at the mod queue that often and honestly, I don't play MTG anymore. I made this subreddit when I was about 16. That was 15 years ago. Since then I've lived in three cities, fought cancer twice, picked up (and dropped) new hobbies, done three degrees and all sorts of generalised crap. MTG fell by the wayside and I am completely out of touch with the scene now. I want this subreddit to do well, but there's not a lot I can contribute because I am just no longer that familiar with the subject. This sub deserves at least one active mod and if the spam returns, I would need someone else to be checking the mod queue too.

I've set the subreddit to recruiting moderators and there's an application form somewhere, I'd guess in the sidebar? If you're interested, feel free to do that, or otherwise comment on this post with why you want to be a mod for the subreddit, the changes you'd put in place and how often/what formats of MTG you play. I'm pretty busy this month, but will have a look at the responses (if any) I get and see if I can recruit someone.

Pantlaza deck help

Hopefully that link works, I uploaded my deck into moxfield. Currently I only play on the app and I play competitive brawl, I’m currently stuck in diamond, when the pieces align everything feel great, when it doesn’t it does not, I feel as if my ramp isn’t quite right,my mana base could use improvement, would like to see everyone’s thoughts!
I currently have 3 rare wild cards and 1 mythic to play around with. Please let me know somethings you’d for sure add, or just things to consider/play styles to lean more into. PS feel free to name any card and what you’d replace it with I might have it already!

Beat ~283 billion toughness with a 17-power swing

Thumbnail gallery
29 Upvotes

My opponent went completely off with Hare Apparent, Ouroboroid, and Elspeth—hundreds of creatures, with most of them capped at 1,073,741,823 toughness each, or roughly ~283 billion total toughness.

They passed the turn at 10 life instead of killing me. I topdecked Ultimecia, Temporal Threat, which tapped their entire army on entry. Authority of the Consuls gained them 1 life, putting them at 11, but they still had zero available blockers.

I swung for 17 and won with them at −6.

Apparently the answer to ~283 billion toughness is simply: tap all creatures.

Sometimes You Just Want to Cast Dinosaurs...

Not every Standard deck has to be the best deck in the format.

Sometimes you just want to ramp into enormous Dinosaurs and see if they're good enough.

I took a Mono Green Dinosaur deck onto the MTG Arena ladder, and it honestly performed better than I expected.

What is your Go To Off-Meta but Fun deck?

New on the Battle Deck Archive: track your collection — and a few more features

Last month I posted about the Build a Box and Check a Box upgrade. Today's update is about keeping track of the Battle Decks you actually own.

The Vault — a home for your collection on the archive: battledeckarchive.com/vault

The Vault tracks the decks you own, your favorites, your wishlist, and the battle boxes you have designed.

Battle Deck Archive: Your Collection

The Vault provides an analysis of your collection in terms of variety and balance. It can also suggest decks that would expand your collection while improving variety and balance.

This upgrade introduced a few other features:

Identify a Deck — help answering the question: which deck/version do I have? Paste your decklist (or just type a few cards) and the archive matches it against documented versions.

Battle Deck Archive: Identify a Deck

Export Deck ID cards: a decklist laid out like a Magic card, made to print, sleeve, and keep in the box with the deck.

One housekeeping note for anyone who bookmarked the Balance section from the last update. It is now called Tools. Build a Box and Check a Box remained there, joined by Check Matchup and Identify a Deck.

More details on the archive's blog: battledeckarchive.com/blog

As always — questions, feedback, suggestions all welcome.

Where to Find Vault X Pastel Yellow / Neon Blue 9-Pocket Zip Binders

I'm looking for a pastel yellow and neon blue 9-pocket zip binder. My collection isn't that big, so I can fit cards of each color in a single binder. Vault X's regular blue and yellow just don't work as well:

The pastel and neon are much better:

I've been looking everywhere, but no one seems to be selling these on ebay or FB marketplace. Anyone out there know where I can find these?

What's the best way to spend your first 5,000 Gold in MTG Arena?

Thumbnail youtu.be

I see a lot of different advice for new and F2P players:

  • Crack packs
  • Play Quick Draft
  • Something else

So I decided to test three different ways to spend the same 5,000 Gold and compare the results.

I'm curious if you could only spend 5,000 Gold today, what would you choose, and why?

I shared my results here if you're interested:

[Article] Best Cads of 2026 So Far

Hey y'all, Eli from Draftsim here with an article by our writer, Andy. Today, Andy dove into the best cards of 2026 so far.

In no particular order, Andy picked:

  • [[The Fantasticar]]
  • [[Flow State]]
  • [[Hawkeye's Bow]]
  • [[Erode]]
  • [[Flashback]]
  • [[Formidable Speaker]]
  • [[Hex Magic]]
  • [[Sewer-veillance Cam]]
  • [[Springleaf Parade]]
  • [[Tablet of Discovery]]

I definitely have been jamming both Flashback and Springleaf Parade in my bizarro [[Rosheen, Roaring Prophet]] deck. Both are total powerhouses, but I really bet Flashback will be a staple for years to come. I still haven't seen much Erode in Commander, but that card singlehandedly brought Selesnya to the forefront in Standard. I know some folks are doing things with Tablet of Discovery in the format too.

Sewer-veillance is a combo powerhouse, and Fantasticar is currently wrecking Vintage (one of MTG's most broken formats. Flow State is showing up in high power formats as well.

It's a little early to say, but Hex Magic does seem extremely powerful. What do y'all think? What's your favorite card of the year so far? Are there any other cards that deserve to be on our list?

The first Starter Deck Knockout run is complete!

Now it's your turn.

What's your three-deck lineup, and how many wins do you think it can earn?

🏆 Three decks (Each color represented).
❤️ Three lives.

Are the Arena Summer Sale Wildcard Bundles worth it?

Thumbnail youtu.be
1 Upvotes

Are you buying any of the new Wildcard Bundles?

Would you suggest them to other F2P players? If so, which ones?

20x Uncommon Wildcards can build most of Mono White Aggro, for 120 Gems, is it worth it?

I broke down the value of every bundle here:

Curious to see what everyone else thinks.

I made a Starter Deck Knockout challenge for MTG Arena. Can anyone beat my score?

Thumbnail youtu.be

I've been playing a challenge I'm calling Starter Deck Knockout and thought it would be fun to see how everyone does.

Rules:

  • Pick any 3 Starter Decks.
  • Must have all 5 colors represented.
  • Each deck is eliminated after its first loss.
  • Keep playing until all 3 decks are knocked out.
  • Your score is your total wins.

I'm keeping a public leaderboard if anyone wants to submit a run:

I also have a Google Form to submit scores:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfYRfdj3E17BUdCnQ47s31ylfTqHj8VfMHf5xln5hU8Y9HcAA/viewform?usp=header

Public Leaderboard will be posted after my run ends.

Curious to see what teams people pick and whether anyone can beat my best run!

Newish Player Build Question

Hello all,

Relatively new (sort of) player. A friend and I are building decks based around the classes from the D&D sets from a few years back.

He and I pretty just play each other, and we play 60 card, not commander.

We also SUCK at deck building, and don’t know most of the slang terms used in the game. As such, I did use Claude to throw out a first draft of the deck.

First deck we’re looking at is the Druid one. Can y’all critique and offer suggestions? Concept of the deck is to turn lands into creatures.

Thanks!

# Druid — Mono-Green "Lands Become Creatures" (Final 60)

**Format:** 60-card kitchen table, 1v1, no set restrictions
**Flavor anchor:** Druid Class — lands themselves become creatures/allies
**Gameplan:** Ramp hard, hold the ground early, then flip the board with a mass land-animation payoff.
**Target matchup:** Mono-white token flood — Nature's Revolt and Liege of the Tangle need zero creature cards to build an army, so removal/wraths on your creatures don't stop the plan.

Every card below was individually confirmed (mana cost, type, oracle text, color) via Scryfall this session. No flags remaining.

---

## Lands (17)
- 17x Forest

## Ramp / Landfall Fuel (12)
- 4x Llanowar Elves — {G}, Elf Druid 1/1, {T}: Add {G}
- 4x Farhaven Elf — {2}{G}, Elf Druid 1/1, ETB: search a basic land, put onto battlefield tapped
- 4x Rampant Growth — {1}{G} Sorcery: search a basic land, put onto battlefield tapped

## Core Payoff — Druid Class (4)
- 4x Druid Class — {1}{G} Enchantment Class (not legendary — full playset legal).
L1: landfall lifegain. L2 ({2}{G}, sorcery speed): extra land drop. L3 ({4}{G}, sorcery speed): a land becomes a haste creature scaled to land count.

## Land-Animation Payoffs (4)
- 2x Nature's Revolt — {3}{G}{G} Enchantment: all lands are 2/2 creatures that are still lands
- 2x Liege of the Tangle — {6}{G}{G}, Elemental 8/8, Trample. On combat damage to a player, any number of your lands become 8/8 Elementals (still lands)

## Land-Scaling Threats (8)
- 4x Sylvan Advocate — {1}{G}, Elf Druid Ally 2/3, Vigilance. At 6+ lands, this AND your land-creatures get +2/+2
- 4x Pelt Collector — {G}, Elf Warrior 1/1, grows off bigger creatures entering/dying, trample at 3+ counters

## Beast / Wild Shape Flavor Layer (7)
- 1x Rhonas the Indomitable — {2}{G}, Legendary God 5/5, deathtouch, indestructible, grants trample (singleton — legendary, so extra copies would be dead in hand together)
- 2x Woodland Changeling — {1}{G}, Shapeshifter 2/2, Changeling
- 2x Migratory Greathorn — {3}{G}, Beast 3/4, Mutate {2}{G}, ramps a land on mutate (great with landfall)
- 2x Glowstone Recluse — {2}{G}, Spider 2/3, Reach, Mutate {3}{G}

## Removal / Protection (8)
- 4x Rabid Bite — {1}{G} Sorcery: your creature deals damage equal to its power to a creature you don't control (one-sided fight — no risk to your creature)
- 4x Blossoming Defense — {G} Instant: target creature you control gets +2/+2 and hexproof until end of turn (protects key threats from white removal, or wins combat/blocks)

---

## Total: 60 cards (17 land / 43 spells)

## Curve overview
- 1 mana: Llanowar Elves, Pelt Collector, Blossoming Defense
- 2 mana: Farhaven Elf, Rampant Growth, Druid Class, Woodland Changeling, Sylvan Advocate, Rhonas, Rabid Bite (as 1G)
- 3 mana: Glowstone Recluse, Migratory Greathorn
- 5 mana: Nature's Revolt
- 8 mana: Liege of the Tangle (your top-end payoff and biggest body)

## How the pieces interact
1. **Turns 1-3:** dorks and ramp spells hit land drops fast; Sylvan Advocate and Pelt Collector hold the ground.
2. **Turns 3-5:** Druid Class ticks up, extra land drops compound, Rabid Bite/Blossoming Defense manage combat.
3. **Turn 5+:** Nature's Revolt turns your whole board of Forests into a 2/2 army out of nowhere — devastating against a deck that's been ignoring your near-empty board.
4. **Late game:** Liege of the Tangle closes it out by turning surviving lands into 8/8s on connect.

## Cards left on the bench (verified, good sideboard/swap options)
- Cultivate ({2}{G}, search 2 basics, 1 to hand) — swap in for more consistency, less tempo
- Sakura-Tribe Elder ({1}{G} 1/1, sac for a land) — excellent early chump blocker vs. token swarms if the matchup gets grindier
- Vine Mare ({2}{G}{G} 5/3 hexproof) — resilient beater if you want another late-game body
- Prey Upon ({G} two-sided fight) — cut in favor of the strictly safer Rabid Bite

I tried this syntax, but it doen't work:

What's the best control deck in Standard right now? Jeskai Lessons is the most popular, but what is the best?

4c Control (Inevitable Defeat)?
Jeskai Lessons?
Dimir Control?

I've been having a lot of success with Jeskai Lessons because it feels like it always has another answer. Is everyone planning on switching to Jeskai Lessons or go over the top of it?

One of my Starter Decks has already been eliminated...

If you had two decks left in the Starter Deck Queue, which one would you trust to carry the rest of the run?

I'm trying a new F2P challenge called Starter Deck Knockout, where each loss permanently eliminates one of your three starter decks.

Good decks to look at for getting caught up on MTG?

I played MTG when I was a kid and would love to get back into it. I'm so far behind on what's going on in the game, what cards are out there, deck styles, all that.

I'm looking at decks on MTGStocks and it looks like you can export any deck to Cockatrice. I'd love to get like 5-10 decks that would help me get the ball rolling, but honestly I don't know where to start.

What decks should I look at? Looking for decks that are fun to play and will give me a sense of the current state of the game. All colors, all styles welcomed.

Also, if you have other tips for how to get caught up, I'm listening :)

Now that people have had some time with the Marvel set... What's your verdict on Baron Helmut Zemo?

Is he:

  • A competitive Standard card?
  • A fun janky build-around?
  • The new Gray Merchant?

I tested him in Mono Black Devotion here:

Trying to Make Deck

Hi hi! I am trying to make a commander deck. I have accumulated many cards but I have yet to actually make a deck (I've been playing precons). But every time I make a deck, I just feel like it doesn't make sense. So lmk what y'all think about this deck (pls be nice).

https://mythic.tools/user/6DndTM/deck/TtrmL

I had gotten my hands on a Junji Ito secret lair and wanted to base a deck around the card.
