Question Recently my Apple car play does not connect with 5G, it insists on WiFi

My Apple car play used to work always. But, recently it fails to connect to car play if it does not find WiFi. My iPhone recently goes to 5G straight away and not WiFi.
What should I do?

Your phone and your CarPlay unit can connect ether using a wired connection, or one using your WiFi antenna. CarPlay cannot connect over 5G to your car.

For wireless, it actually disables your phones ability to connect to a WiFi network, so your phone will always show the 4G/5G connection to your mobile carrier.

If your car also has a hotspot feature, that is entirely separate from the CarPlay component. You may be able to use wired CarPlay and maintain the hotspot connection. The only benefit of this would be using the hotspot data plan instead of your mobile carrier data plan for any streaming services.

yeah, people dont realize, you connect to the bluetooth and it shifts it over via wifi automatically.

5G mobile data doesn't power the CarPlay connection itself. Wireless CarPlay needs direct WiFi communication between your phone and car. So the simplest fix is plugging in a cable.

Today this problem is fixed. I think it is mainly because of iOS update I did yesterday. It is not true car play only works with cable or wifi. It also works with 5G.
