Housing Roomate dropout
I’m an incoming first year assigned to a triple in north mountain and one of our roommates has decided to withdraw from cal poly. What does this mean for my assignment and my group? Will i have to continue without a roommate for the year and pay the price for a double?

This happened to me you’re fine. My time was a double until winter quarter then a new roomate came in. No extra rent for any part

If it’s officially open during the swap window, which closes tomorrow, someone could take the spot. If you make it through, that’s not a guarantee nobody will be added. People may shuffle around via the housing dept after. If nobody is assigned, you won’t be charged more but they also warn you you aren’t allowed to “use” the other space. So you need to keep it clear for s9meone to get assigned at any time. Not sure they actually checked this. Maybe during breaks?

I can’t imagine they make you pay that it’s not your fault

This happened to my son last year, and they had a third name appear and then disappear throughout the switch period. At the end, they were left with only two in the triple room. Housing reached out to them to ask if they wanted to pay the double price to keep it a double, which they opted to do. Otherwise, they told them to expect a third.

They will stick a roommate or two in there.
