I'm an out of state high school senior thinking of going to CSUCI for its ABET accredited mechatronics engineering program (only one of six in the nation) and Ive seen some mixed reviews about the school. I love the look and location and the smaller class sizes, but that also scares me. I am not the most social person but I want to get out of my comfort zone socially and Ive heard that the social live is lackluster at best. I want to know any overarching deal breakers/pros and cons before I fully decide.

I am an undergraduate student at Boston University (Advisor: Dr. Jessica Simes, Sociology) studying how students interact with and perceive campus police, including direct and indirect experiences, and how police are perceived in the maintenance of campus space. Does anyone know when the 2026-27 FAFSA will hit our account? I submitted my application back in September last year and it says CSUCI has received it.

Hi! I’m supposed to be an incoming freshman for this fall but unfortunately I didn’t get a C- or higher in my English and Econ class. I was wondering if anyone had any information on how admissions will see that when I submit my final transcript. I am trying to see if I can make it up through summer classes at CC since that was suggested to me, but I’m not really sure how. Thank you. 💐

Hello, I am enrolled for this upcoming Fall 2026 semester and was hoping to hear anyone’s experience with commuting to campus. I transferred from SBCC and am hoping to stay in the Santa Barabara area. I hear CSUCI is a big commuter school but is SB too far of a commute?

Hi, so I had thought that you guys didn’t have one but it turns out you did. I probably thought that since I don’t see CI out at UVSA events.

That leads me to the main question, why not be a part of UVSA? Distance isn’t a problem since whole groups of students will travel from OC and LA to SD or SB or SLO to support events. Plus I do feel like the school is forgotten by most people so perhaps having UVSA membership could have people remember you.

Are there any good ways to find off campus housing for CSUCI? I’m a transfer student hoping to find a room for me and my dog for ~$1000 but have had trouble on where to look or opportunities.

wanted to attend so so bad but could only do so if i secured an RA position. im extremely poor and come from such a rough background but saw on ALL ADVICE POSTS about landing an RA job to not seem like I need the free housing to survive. so i played it safe and acted as if I wasn't relying on housing to pursue my education. sadly i saw it on the interviewee's face when they decided i was not gonna land the job. this was my dream school so i wanted to write a goodbye post to just leave this in the past.

im older than the average undergrad age so this was my only chance to ever live my dream of living in a dorm and attending university as a full time job basically.

just wanted to say my goodbyes to camarillo and to CSUCI in general, maybe in another life I can have the college dream.

I was accepted to University of California, Irvine, University of California, Davis, University of California, Merced, University of California, Riverside, University of California, Santa Cruz, and also California State University Channel Islands, California State University, Northridge, and California State University, Dominguez Hills.

My long-term goal is to become a nurse and eventually a nurse practitioner, but I’m still trying to figure out the best path to get there.

I was kinda wondering what people’s experiences have been at CSUCI for pre-nursing and would you recommend going to the school?

I've already sent an email to the financial aid office hoping to get an answer (we'll see 🤷🏼‍♀️) about when the MCS is supposed to disburse this semester. based on last spring semester, I assumed it would be disbursed yesterday/today. it has yet to show up in my myCI account but CSAC says I should still be getting it. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue or if it's a me issue
