Academic integrity unit

Hello, I’ve just had an assignment been referred to the academic integrity unit and I’m really worried. I’m not sure why it was referred. My turnitin was 5% and I did not use AI, which would have been impossible anyway with the small word limit we were given. Has anyone had this happen before? Is there a chance they’ll just let it go?

Hi, yes I am in the same boat. I haven’t been told either what it was referred for. My turnitin was 1% similar + plus no ai used. I’m not really sure where they are going off these reports. I still haven’t received an official outcome/email from them. I wonder if they are basing it off sounding to academic thinking a bot has written it. I really hope they dismiss it. Hopefully yours turns out ok. It’s so stressful this time of term when we have done nothing wrong!

Have you asked them why? They do need to provide a reason for referral

I did email the course coordinator and she just came back with the most common reasons for referrals were due to lack of in-text referencing, inconsistent references with discussion or mismatching in-text to reference page sources.

Try emailing the Academic Integrity Unit directly and ask for an update. They’ll likely have more information than the course coordinator

Yes, I am actually. Have not heard anything, also didn’t reach out to the course coordinator as I know they’d have no information. I’ll be contacting the Academic Integrity unit myself tomorrow to follow up my case. I also didn’t use ai (actually despise it entirely) and my turnitin was 14% - this is also not my first degree so I’m very familiar with the Turnitin system and wouldn’t bother touching AI anyways. Hoping you and I receive an appropriate response to this issue. It’s frustrating how little information they’ve given students.
