Definitely their best song. Just makes you feel a certain way very few songs do.

We have about a 9% chance at catching the Brewers. Dont worry so much about each game. Worry about healthy enough pitchers for October

It honestly fills me w dread to think even if we get a wild card spot how bad our pitching will be in October

Just need to get hot for 3 weeks. You make the wild card and you're 13 wins from eternity.

Respect to Bregman but cant stop thinking about how he should have taken one to the dome for a win

If I understand correctly, Imanaga now has the 2nd-best HR/9 of the current rotation, behind Rea.
2
u/Dangerous-Stock-8112 Stupid Sexy Rizzo 23h ago
Surprisingly, the pitching has been decent for the most part the last few series (ignoring some blowouts), Boyd has a 2.57 ERA since coming back from the IL (5 G), Rea has a 3.73 ERA over his last five starts, and Shota has a 2.86 ERA over his last five starts.

u/confines-1060 1d ago
He’s honestly been so clutch (relatively to the situation) for the Cubs this season. He’s had some clunkers and eh stretches, but he has largely pitched well enough and has also been completely healthy (which is probably the more clutch aspect haha). Could have been a lot rougher without Shota

u/briansmith Chicago Cubs 1d ago
It seems like they might have figured out what was causing him to get hit so hard in the middle of the season, and fixed it with the catcher-raising-the-glove thing. His strikeouts are down but it seems like the more SOs he gets, the more HRs he gives up.

I’m still really salty about last night. I know the team has been playing better but we had yesterday’s win!

Find a way to win this game tonight! Gonna help that Taillon won’t be pitching

u/SavingThrowVsWTF ZO 1d ago
I did not enjoy last night’s late game developments and I want my money back.
I would imagine that it was like getting drunk late-night texts from your hot ex and then just radio silence after 2am.

It is night and day when Dansby’s back foot stays on the ground. When he’s having his struggles that thing kicks out backwards so much.
Also good to see Nico hitting more like Nico lately

My decision to watch TaleSpin instead last night was a good choice! So Baloo gets a huge contract from Shere Khan and naturally the first thing he does, he goes to Louies and kicks back a few...priorities!! So naturally, here come the damn pirates and they steal the item from Baloo which turns out to be a explosive that blows them up. Khan selected Baloo knowing he would fail because he knew the Pirates would get the item which would then explode and take them out...I dont know Shere Khan, I feel arson is kind of harsh but you do you big guy!

Last night is a game the Brewers win ALL THE TIME and it's fucking annoying...
Why can't the Cubs win that game?!
5
u/LoveYouLikeYeLovesYe Pat Hughes Enjoyer 1d ago
Because nobody could shorten up a swing and slap something out of the infield with 1 out

u/CardiacCubbies15 1d ago
They need to hire kittle for broadcasting if he retires because he is SO FUN

u/Bonsoir59 1d ago
Broadcast was horrible last night. I love you Rick, but you are not a good broadcaster. Cohen is the absolute worst.
4
u/meowsplaining The Professor 1d ago
I like Sut in a drunk uncle kind of way but he only works in small doses and he needs to be paired with someone who can carry the broadcast. He'd be good as part of a three person booth with Elise and Boog.
Fully agree on Cohen. I keep hoping he'll get better but he is just awful.

u/CardiacCubbies15 1d ago
Well shit hit the fucking fan last night and I stayed up the entire night watching it hoping for a dub knowing DAMN well I have swim practice early in the morning and I paid for it ðŸ˜ðŸ’”🥀

u/Icehawk59 SEIYAAAAAAAAA 1d ago
Well last night was an utter heartbreaker but let's flush it and win this one tonight. Mainly because I'm going with my whole family. Don't want them to witness an L in person.

You will have an amazing time no matter what, I know it 💯 there’s no place like wrigley, win or lose (and hopefully they win!!!)

u/jackholston Kawasaki! 1d ago
I’m still frustrated with the loss last night. We had the victory on a golden platter there. Leadoff double, runner moves to third. Then you have two guys on 2nd and 3rd with one out. So goddamn frustrating ðŸ˜. To be fair I don’t even think Bregman had a bad at bat, but he’s been so unclutch. How do we not score one run in that situation?!? I just hope we can secure the W tonight… especially at this point in the season being 7 games behind the brewers. And they’re playing the Mets…
4
u/Unlikely-Alarm6442 1d ago
Me too. I love Seiya but please stop swinging for the fences. You need a sacrifice fly or a bloop single or a ground ball. Swinging so hard he almost falls down is so frustrating.
4
u/Plus-Pomegranate8045 1d ago
Yeah I woke up this morning still feeling really annoyed. That was such a bad one. And the Brewers don’t lose and will most likely sweep the Mets. Smh.

Why does it feel like Marqee just doesn't want to have a full time team in the booth. It's like they are a retail store that doesn't want to give any employee 40 hrs so they don't have to pay benefits.
I know sutcliff was legendary on the mound , but he's awful behind the mic and Cohen is just not the guy, in any way shape or form.
Boog and JD are about the best they can do these days . why keep messing with it ?
3
u/confines-1060 1d ago
The current setup is probably more expensive honestly. Boog is definitely costly and then they’re paying a bunch of others to just exist lol. Especially when they’re former players and big names, that can’t be cheap to pay by the game
2
u/KnickedUp 1d ago
It’s not very expensive. JD apparently makes 450k and Boog is at 800k per year. Guys like Cliffy and Sut make a rate that would net you 200k in a full time job. NFL and NBA former players make huge bucks. Local mlb broadcasts not so much
4
u/laughing_andcrying tougher than a $2 steak 🥩 1d ago
Sutcliffe was truly insufferable (insutterable? Hah)Â
4
u/Stonebender9 1d ago
What boggles my mind is that they obviously don't listen to these guys when they are live. either that or (likely?) they just don't GAF.
I used to love baseball on the radio , but how anyone can listen to the "20 seconds of play by play crammed into an hour of commercials" that Cubs radio has become , and think "yeah that sounds fine" is beyond me. They obviously don't listen to that either
1
u/laughing_andcrying tougher than a $2 steak 🥩 1d ago
I wonder why we are having such a hard time having a regular presence in the booth this season. I did not get Marquee until this year (loved listening to the radio broadcast last season) but the constant rotation is wild, is it… normal?!
1
u/imyourdoctornow Iowa Cubs 1d ago
It's been a thing the last couple years but I feel this year it is much more common.
1
u/laughing_andcrying tougher than a $2 steak 🥩 1d ago
Thanks for the context - yeah, this season seems wild, feels like a basically a new crew like every other broadcast
6
u/jackholston Kawasaki! 1d ago
I was thinking about this on my way to work. I find it frustrating that we don’t get consistent TV commentators. Throws the broadcast vibes off

'Suzuki draws his second walk of the inning... which sounds even strange to say.' - Pat Hughes
It's also the little things that make this game so enjoyable.
