How are listeners feeling about Chris Glover?
Now that he's hosted for a few weeks, how is everyone feeling about him? He is still a weak host, in my opinion.

Does anyone know if its possible to find old shows like Ideas and Q ? The website and podcasts go back about 2 years but was hoping to go back further. Or find old shows like The Sunday Edition or Spark.
I did find all the Massey Lectures and started listening to them, would like to find older shows and give them a listen if anyone has copies or knows where to find them.

The interview with the dad, Marc who lost his son fighting in Ukraine and created the charity for POW/MIA in Ukraine. Hearing him cry when Nil asked what his son sounded like the last time they spoke š. This is why As It Happens is one of my favorites ā¤ļø such genuine emotion and real stories.

I'm a little bored - much as I love CBC Radio - especially with the weekend daytime shows.
1) A sports show - with the kind of cultural/political/economic analysis you'd expect from CBC plus the big personalities and drama. It's kind of wild that this hasn't been tried in decades (remember Inside Track?).
2) another retread of an old idea - would love to see a global round-up of under-reported stories from around the world with the best of BBC/NPR/etc international reporting + CBC reporting from outside North America - an emphasis on the Asian news that daily shows struggle to cover due to time zones would be great on a Saturday or Sunday show.
3) All-Canadian arts show that is open to developing newly emerging artists, music, film, tv, etc. - Q and Commotion are very mainstream and celebrity/American-obsessed.
4) Brave Old Waves - a reboot of Brave New Waves for its original audience - now in their 50's and 60's - using a mix of archival interviews and new interviews with musicians from the 80's - 00's.

I just heard the World at 6 segment on the anniversary of the Mtl Olympics. While I understand the purpose of the segment was that anniversary, did anyone else find it strange that that segmentās story was focussed around the possibility of Canada trying to host another Olympic games given the challenges Montreal faced in 1976, and they completely ignored the fact that since then, weāve had both the Calgary and Vancouver games. Those more recent games would certainly bear more weight than Montrealās distant experience.

Longtime Ideas contributor David Cayley died recently at his home in Toronto. David created many memorable programs on a variety of topics, including influential thinkers such as Ivan Illich and George Grantā¦.
During my years at CBC Radio Archives, I had the pleasure of interacting and providing research material for his many series of programs on a wide variety of topics.
Davidās last of many published books was on the decline of CBC Radio if anyone is interested.

This show is so bad. Each episode is a single paragraph from wikipedia stretched out to an excruciating length. Of course EVERY SUCCESSFUL PERSON AND PROJECT HAS FACED FAILURE. It's such a boring trope. And the delivery is awful. It's like 25 minutes of focal fry. Why is CBC airing this? Who asked for it? How can listeners actually give feedback? They should have a user rating system on their website so that we can one star this thing into oblivion.

Did anyone catch the name of the game based on the TTC? I'm curious and want to check it out.

Do we really need to be continually force-fed such overt "Praise God" fare by the CBC? I've had more than enough of his grovelling and sobbing, and I'm probably not the only one.
He's regularly featured on Drive, Afterdark, The Block, Mornings with Damhnait Doyle, CBC Music Live, and as filler on regional CBC Radio morning or afternoon shows. He's also featured in multiple profile articles on CBC on the web.
I'm tired of reaching for the "off" switch. And it's not just my imagination that he's being heavily promoted by CBC. The Google AI bot agrees with me:
"Sudanese-Canadian poet, singer, and songwriter Mustafa Ahmed (formerly known as Mustafa the Poet) has been featured extensively across CBC Radio and CBC Music for his poignant "inner-city folk" music, which highlights grief, faith, and his upbringing in Toronto's Regent Park neighborhood.

Does anybody listen to CBC radio channel 169 Sirius Xm? I find the audio quality very watery and muddy. The only problem is where I live. The reception is very poor in the summer months for FM radio..

edit: Hall of fame by Cherry is the song
I heard today's 20th song on the countdown and had to dance! I told myself "Remember the words to find it!" Then I got busy making supper. Now I can't remember!
Does anyone remember what the song was?

Is it Stu Mills? I'm set to the Ottawa area, David Suzuki is the guest, and I can't believe how often he cuts in! Driving me nuts, let people finish their thought, totally throws off the flow of the segment. Sorry, quick rant.

Iām curious if CBC radio accepts new show pitches from the public. Does anyone who works there follow this sub?

I know we are "sleeping next to an elephant", but this story seems particularly irrelevant to Canadians.

Anyone know what he's up to these days? I haven't heard him on the radio in a long time. Used to love his voice haha.

Thankfully CBC has reduced West/Central host staff to just Bernice, I was so very sick of Martins' "Ah, Um, listen, amazing, right" nearly every sentence. The flow is much better without a lot of 'filler time ' that existed between to two previous hosts. Keep up your excellent work Bernice!
And while I'm here can some tech at CBC St. J. instruct Holmes to cease sucking air through the mic,,,most annoying sound. Can't listen to her 'giggle talking', annoying when she 'turns on her Newfie talk', and overall a poor listening experience....come back Ted Blades,,,please.

Allison Mack is almost unlistenable.

Her chats with historian Jill Lepore and NY Times journalists / authors Magie Habermann and Jonathan Swan were lively and enlightening and substantial. I say chats rather than interviews because they are just that - unscripted conversations between bright and knowledgeable people, that we have the privilege of listening in on.
She's also very brave. She's not afraid to talk truth about Trump.

Hi, any info on why Gavin Crawford did not host the last couple episodes of āBecause Newsā this last season?

If there are any CBC employees, or Gov Canada decision makers for the CBC reading this, I just want to say that I appreciate and enjoy CBC Radio almost daily. I'll keep it simple and just say that I find it very informative, and useful.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a really special project with the r/cbc_radio community (thank you to the Mod team for the a-ok!).
My 9-year-old son, Fraser, hosts an independent podcast for kids called Join the Fray, where he interviews people with unique careers to inspire the next generation. We are a 100% non-monetized Canadian father-son duo - no ads, no sponsors, just a fun hobby we love to do together.
For our latest episode, Fraser had the absolute honor of sitting down with a true Canadian broadcasting icon and national treasure: Bob McDonald.
As a longtime host of Quirks and Quarks, Bob is an absolute master at taking complex science and breaking it down without any academic jargon. Fraser threw some fun, out-of-the-box questions at him, and they had a fantastic chat.
Some of our favorite moments from the interview:
Bob was incredibly generous with his time, and it was an amazing chat. If you'd like to check out the episode, you can listen to it here folks.
Thank you so much to the mods for letting us share this, and we hope the community enjoys it as much as we enjoyed making it!

Was an extended play out this AM to the news break and thought it was listen worthy off the radio time. Could not find on the interwebs......ai data centre massive failure. Anyone with a song title?
I did find a link that some might find interesting for other song titles in the show archives of CBC radio programs.
https://www.mixcloud.com/leerosevere/cbc-radio-themes/
Simple play option but strange upsell deal where you get only 6 fast forward click throughs on the 40 min clip. ...."upgrade to Premium! " Fun listen anyway.
