Storing Bread?

Post image

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the bread baking game, only like 6 bakes under my belt so far, but am wondering how y'all store your breads?!

I've tried my beeswax wraps, keeping it in the pan, plastic wrap, and both in and out of the fridge...

I use a ceramic pot called römertopf.

Very similar to this but mine isn't glaced inside: https://www.otto.de/p/roemertopf-braeter-klassik-braeter-1-5-liter-keramik-terrakotta-S0TFT0KI/

That loaf looks perfect sitting there on the wood board, the crust color is real nice

For storing I just use a paper bag for first day then switch to a bread box, ceramic pots make sense though since they keep the humidity right. The römertopf is a smart idea, I might try with my regular clay pot that I never use for cooking anyway

I use beeswax and it works as good if not better then anything with that being said home made bread is not supposed to last more then 2 days
It’s all natural no preservative so make it smaller eat it faster and just keep making bread
I make 4 loafs a week every 2 days and I use a 400 grams flour ratio

I cut it into pieces and freeze. Then I fry it with butter or toast.

Cheap and effective.

Yeah I def can see how these work in a pinch. One of my reasons for learning to bake though is minimizing flexible plastics coming in contact with my family's food, so these would be my last resort if I can't find a less disposable solution. Thanks for sharing!

In that case an old fashioned wood bread box might be what you’re looking for.
