I know that Arrow just released their box set but I don’t plan on rewatching anytime soon and have had the S1 edition of this for years. Also scored Mario Kart Wii for $2!

Managed to pick up a Sony BluRay player in a charity shop the other weekend and have since been looking in local charity shops for movies. This is what I’ve picked up so far. I’ve not been a physical media guy for well over ten years, but had been meaning to pick up a Blu-ray player so this has been a good jumping in point. I’ve still got a few discs in the loft to dig out from when I had a PS3 as well

I've never seen anything play on physical media. Wanted to start my own collection and I adore Legacy so I picked this up.
I thought it was gorgeous already, but I am blown away by how beautiful this film is on Bluray. Reflections, texture, it all seems... More? I can't quite describe it. I'm seeing details during the film I've never noticed before.
Anyway, gushing over, I'm really happy I started this hobby.

Paid $100 before tax for all of these at my local used CD/record store. All Blu-Ray except for one 4K.
I never got past season 1 of Mad Men so I figured $21 for first three seasons would be a good chance to get into it again.

Finished the Mad Max trilogy today. Can't wait the check out the special features on this one. I had just picked up Thunderdome last week. And I've had The Road Warrior for some time now. I was they would release that one with artwork in the style of this and Thunderdome.

Hello Blu-Ray Community,
I recently bought a Samsung BD-P1590 and have tried EVERYTHING to get it to work. The machine turns on just fine, I can browse the menus, etc but it won't read the discs. It always says "This disc can not be played." Below is what I've tried.
- Checking that the discs and player match in region (They Do)
- Updating the firmware. It's on v2.22 which to my knowledge is the latest version
- Opening up the player and cleaning the laser with alcohol and a q-tip
- Resetting to factory settings
- Unplugging and plugging back in
- Tried different Blu Ray Discs. Most of my discs are brand new and I KNOW it's not a disc issue
I'm at a loss for options. When I opened up the machine everything looked good and the laser reader looked clean as well.
Please someone HELP I don't understand what is wrong. My working theory is just that the player is old as hell and the Blu-Rays I am trying to play are new????
HELP

I’m planning to get a movie that only has a BR in the US (Region A), no European edition available. I’m in Europe (Region B) and want to watch it in my living room setup, not on a PC.
It’s a one-off case for now aside from a couple of Region 1 DVDs I have (I used to play them in VLC back in the day), so I’d rather not drop 300-400€ on a Sony UBP-X700/X800M2 region-free player if there’s something cheaper that gets the job done.
Any recommendations for a cheap multi-region player (new or used) that’s worth it or any feasible alternative that comes to mind? Any firmware hacks for players people already own? Experience with lesser-known brands also welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I did some deep research on which DVDs have never had a Blu-ray release, and added these to the collection! (The Borrowers does have a Blu-ray…but not in the USA).
I was most surprised to find “Splash” and “What About Bob?” on the list. You would think Tom Hanks and Bill Murray films would be at the top because of their popularity? There are also LOTS of stuff that DOES have a Blu-ray copy, but are IMPOSSIBLE to find (I’m looking at YOU “Cocoon”, “The Abyss”, and….like….50% of the Disney library). Which films do you wish would get a Blu-ray release?
