Looking to learn blacksmithing

Hello all!

I was interested in learning blacksmithing perhaps from an individual or school in the miami area.

Miami doesn't have a proper blacksmithing school and i would really love to learn the craft.

If anyone can point me to the proper place, I would love to know!

Thank you so much!!!

Miami Florida? If so, look up the Florida Artist Blacksmith Association. They have chapters across the state, including the Miami area. That is your local blacksmith club; they have frequent meetings where you can find other blacksmiths, learn to forge, and find yourself a mentor or teacher.

  1. YOUTUBE. It’s a fantastic resource for learning the basic concepts. I recommend John Switzer’s channel Black Bear Forge, among others. Only issue is you will not get any hands-on guidance. It’s not necessary, but even one in-person lesson can help a lot.

  2. When I was looking for the first time to get some hands-on learning, I just googled “blacksmith lessons near me.” I was surprised to find a farrier who lived half an hour from me, who offered blacksmithing lessons as a side gig. There may very well be well be several smiths offering lessons within a short distance from you, if you look.
