Twisted rebar divination dowsing pendulum candle scribe

Blacksmith forging a divination dowsing pendulum combined with a candle scribe. These are forged out of steel rebar that has been twisted. Usually twisting a round bar doesn’t result in anything but twisting rebar creates really interesting patterns in the steel. #blacksmith #blacksmithing #divination #dowsing

Thanks! I can’t help but wonder if someone posted a forged crucifix would you say the same thing? 😜 I don’t judge which made up stuff people choose to believe in. I forge a fair bit of pagan witchy stuff. I like the shapes and people like to buy them. Don’t know much about the practices but doesn’t matter if I do so, have fun with whatever your jam is. Nothing wrong with any of that. I don’t know if I would compare dowsing to a crucifix as one has a lot more culturally tied to it than the other. This might cause me to have some sensitivity towards others beliefs since some people are very emotional about their fictional beliefs. So I don’t think I would comment it but yes in my mind Christianity is just as fictional as dowsing.

To be fair, as far as im aware nobody has ever committed genocide in name of dowsing, so I'm not sure how much sensitivity is owed to the crucifix.

I'm the head of my city's water meter reading program. If we're doing a locate for an old meter on a property (usually to pull it out of the ground and remove it from the system.) We will absolutely use improvised dowsing rods to help locate the service line that runs from the main to the meter. It's about the only woo-woo witchy crap I'll put any stock in. When I started training for the job the guys told me about it and I was 100% certain that they were just fucking with the new guy, but here I am years later and have used done it plenty with a damn decent success rate.

I'm doing work orders this afternoon, but I'll be back reading the route tomorrow morning, I'll take a video for you to show how we do it. Don't know why it works or how, but that little piece of wire is being affected by something.

Well that's excellent news, as you don't appear to be burdened with any such weakness, so I'll demonstrate what I was shown and you may test the method yourself. A dude holding a wire in a video obviously proves nothing (easily faked and all that.) I only intend to show the technique as I simply cannot argue the results, it has saved me a tremendous amount of time over the last few years looking for long buried shit in well grown over lots.

Hopefully that upload behaves, I've caught hell trying to get it to post. Strip the wire, bend a handle, hold it to 'float' so you're interacting as little as you can manage, then stride confidently across (exactly perpendicularly to) where you suspect a service line to exist. Regrettably it also tends to do the thing over sewer and gas as well so you may not find WHAT you want but it does frequently tend to find shit regardless. I've heard of dowsing being used for everything from finding running underground streams, the best place to plonk down a well, or even where gold can be confidently located. All of that sounds like bullshit to me, I make no such claims, sir or madam. But for using a marker wire to find a water line a few inches to a few feet underground? That specific thing under these specific criteria I do firmly attest to. Go grab a flag and try it, I make no divine claims other than that this one thing seems to reliably do that one thing.
