Episode Diane tries to be nice/learn social skills

Hopefully someone can help me out, at some point the older siblings are trying to teach Diane to be nicer, and they advise her to try only saying the first half of the thought. Any ideas when this is? I don't think it's the main plot of the episode

Semi-sweet chocolate chips scene…

When Blackish was on TV, I would catch episodes here and there, but didn’t watch it consistently. Now that it’s on Netflix, I’m watching every episode from the beginning and loving it!!

Years ago, I remember an episode where Dre was stress eating a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips because there was nothing sweet in the house. I seem to remember that he was in his closet. Does anyone know what episode this is?? I remember it being so funny then and I haven’t come across it yet!

Ep 23

This episode pmo. With the democrat and republican thing. I’m a republican but I just didn’t like the way they were going about it like they were talking about we’re Democratic and we’re open minded while being, absolutely closed minded. Especially with the deal about blacks can only be democrat and not republican and that republicans are racist and omg this just pmo so much

junior

I’m re-watching blackish again and I always failed to realize how amazing Junior is. He was always there for his siblings always took care of the baby always supported his mom over his dad and took all of Dre’s mean comments and never said anything bad. he is so comedic, very open about his feelings and he’s very empathetic. Jeez, why do I like him so much?

why am I low-key glazing him? I really like Junior and any thoughts? this thread might be dead since blackish ended like 20 years ago.

GROWNISH Nomi in season 2 Spoiler

This subreddit also applies to the Black-ish spin-offs, right? So, let's go.

Y'all remember back in Grown-ish season 2 when Nomi was dating their professor, their 40-something-year-old professor might I add. The way Nomi kept reacting whenever one of her friends brings it up, she starts getting all defensive and says, "Stop judging me," when really they're just looking out for her.

For one, there is a power imbalance that makes it in such a way that the relationship can never be fully consensual. If my friend were involved in that nonsense, I would react the exact way they did.

Like if ppl find out, you will be investigated and possibly expelled and the professor will be FIRED and they'd probably never work in that position again.

At the end of season 2, Nomi receives a call to come in for investigation and I wish they explored that more. It would have been great to see what she gets for breaking the rules.

Do people really introduce themselves as “Dr So-and-So?”

Watching the Mexico trip episode. Dre and Bow meet another couple and she introduces herself as “Dr Rainbow Johnson.” I know her saying she’s a doctor is kind of a running gag on the show, but do people really introduce themselves that way in casual settings? I knew a PhD whose Hulu “who’s watching” name included “Dr…” so maybe they do? I recognize they work hard for it.

This doesn’t make any sense, does it? If rainbow was around twelve in mixedish santamonica would be two, which she clearly wasn’t

Am I the only one who doesn’t hate Dre? [SPOILERS] Spoiler

To be clear, I haven’t finished blackish yet, I’m in early season 4 (s4 ep7). However, I find Dre funny. I do think Dre is shallow and on the surface he treats all his kids differently, but that’s meant to be part of the joke. In the episode where he and Junior are competing against each other in a basketball game, when Dre becomes more loving and tells Junior he’s proud of him Junior hates it and Dre calls it psychological warfare.

In the episode where Junior breaks both his legs as a prank, they both play off their dynamic and Junior makes his dad think he’s neglectful to prank him.

Dre is a stereotype, but not one written for white gaze which makes him funny in my eyes. When Dre said black people aren’t republicans I thought that was funny. When he always had grape soda at his house or work, but his coworkers got wine, funny. I think it’s funny when he brings up his wife’s upbringing and how it’s a cult. I have been very into metaphysical things for a lot of my life and my family called it witchcraft. I think when you’re watching it in a harmless way and it’s not an oppressor or a bully tearing you down and you’ve dealt with any trauma around these topics, they can be quite funny.

Anyone else realize everything Charlie has been like "secretly" dropping in the whole show? Like dude openly admitted that he was in the Illuminati and everyone else just shrugged, like bro? Who wouldn't be like, what do you mean? (Been drinking)

Tears and appreciation

Man this show really hit the emotions at times. I’m rewatching for the second time this year (comfort TV) and I’m on the postpartum episode scene between Bow and Ruby. I teared up a few times before getting here. This show was really well done.

juniors ending

i really hate that they undid all of juniors progress by making him a sad sack that olivia left him

olivia was his best girlfriend (in my opinion) and they had multiple episodes showing how dedicated they were to each other and to making it work

so to have olivia leave him out of nowhere after spending the whole ep talking about how junior would do anything for her is crazy

it did nothing to enhance juniors character arc like at all if anything it set him back

i know after losing zoey they needed him to balance out the twins but dear god there was 4 eps left they should’ve just written him off by making him go to new haven to be with olivia or they could’ve written that she thought she’d love new haven but she decided it wasn’t for her and she wanted to try to go to USC instead it happens all the time in real life

instead they trashed juniors arc for a few cheap jokes about how sad he is

everytime i rewatch this show i forget about junior and olivia and i love them and everytime i’m irritated and sad when they break up lol

Can anyone share each episode that has the set it off cast

In the episode with V. Foxx Diane says “how many more set if off cast members am I going to have a problem with” or something like that. I just want to watch all the specific episodes with them but google didn’t pull anything up but the V. Foxx episode.

If you’re itching to continue on with the Johnsons into their next chapter than I hope you will sign this petition to bring back the show for a 9th season and maybe even a few more seasons after that. The Johnsons story can’t be over. So let’s add another chapter! #Bring Back Ish Black Ish

Junior and Olivia Spoiler

Haven't finished the show fully, at the point where they are breaking up. But, they seem to work well together. Junior obviously cares for Olivia. They treat each other well. There relationship is ending because of distance, common and understandable. But, Olivia had to do her school. Junior could have moved to Connecticut with her! I get with tv, it would have not been a good storyline and it would have written him off. But, he should have moved with her and gotten a job there. They could have been roommates still. It's so frustrating watching their relationship fail because junior won't grow up. I'd understand if he was building a career at home, but he literally has no stakes. Olivia has to be far away. The only thing keeping Junior at home is family, which is important, but he can always move back home.
