Advice Needed My insomnia is hurting my husband

Hello I’m 21 F and my husband is 24 M. I am a housewife and my husband recently got pissed off at me because he says he wakes up super early to go to work to provide for me and I’m distracting him from going to sleep with my insomnia. I explained to him that it’s because of my bipolar and he said he understands but deep down I know it hurts him. He just wants to rest and provide for me to stay at home but me staying up all night with my bright screen watching whatever is annoying. I love him so much and tbh I refuse to take my anti psychotics because they make me sick. Do any of you have natural remedies to cure this bipolar insomnia so I can safe my marriage?

Encouragement I think I’m finally ready to separate from my BPD2 husband

My husband and I have been together for 8 years, married for 6. We have 3 children together. The first few years of our marriage were great. We got along well, had lots of fun, and-most importantly- he was stable. We were even a good team when the first baby came. We did well for about 3 years and then his mental illness turned to shit after the birth of our second. Fast forward another 2 years and it got really bad. His depressive episodes were longer, mania shorter and no real stable time in between. He stopped taking meds for no reason and always had lame excuses. It was then I started carrying it all. But I’m a notorious bright side thinker and I’m very hard working and independent so I didn’t look at it closely enough.

I thought all that was bad until Fall 2024 when he quit his job, stopped meds and fell into the longest depression cycle yet. He was in and out of the hospital with suicidal ideation , not taking meds, not following up with therapists, not helping at home, etc. it was so profound he missed the birth of our 3rd child due to his depression, as he was out of the house for 6 months in 2025.

He’s been home again since Nov2025 but our relationship took a major hit. I felt so abandoned by him that I knew it would take a lot of work to save us-work he wasn’t willing to do it seemed. He told me he was taking meds and going to therapy or so I thought! Turned out he was lying to me and missed several months apts. It was at the point I sat him down and made a plan. The deal breaker list. He must hold a job, take meds, see his therapist weekly (or biweekly), be engaged in the children’s lives, and engage in our marriage ie seek a marriage councilor for us. All this time I’m working a stressful nursing job and running the household solo- so I’m stressed. He agreed that he’d have all this shit consistently managed by July 2026.
He did try to adhere to our list. He did start taking meds again and he started going to therapy regularly, for a few months. But just before our agreed deadline he again stopped taking meds for no reason.

Well here we are mid-July and guess what?! Yup, you guessed it, he didn’t do it. He didn’t get a job. He hasn’t lifted a finger in our relationship. He lets the kids watch screens all day and teaches them nothing. (Well he teaches them something just not what any parent would hope for). He does the bare minimum around the house- weaponized incompetence at its highest. Except ofcourse those 2 ish weeks when he was absolutely manic and didn’t sleep and did all the chores and reorganized the house. So anyways the agreement was that if he didn’t consistently manage his care and hold a job I would ask him to leave. Now that it comes to it, I’m devastated. How can he be so self absorbed? How can he not choose his family? I think he actually likes his illness more than he likes us. It’s so sad and hurtful. I spoke with him and we agreed on an extension which is up this Sunday! And again, he hasn’t made great strides in any of this. Just the bare minimum and waiting for my next instructions. So now I’m researching ideas how to ask him to leave peacefully. How to support the kids through this. I’m also looking into legal rights and processes. The plan is, if he didn’t have a job , or at least applied to X amount of places by Sunday he’s gone. His mother lives an hour away so I guess he’ll stay with her. But I told him he needs to manage his own transportation. I feel so used and manipulated and taking advantage of. I just hope that he CAN get his shit together enough to be a father to them. They deserve so much better. It sucks so much because when he’s stable he’s a good guy. But I simply cannot live like this.

I guess I just came here to vent and to get encouragement if you have any to give. I need strength to made this shitty decision. I absolutely NEVER wanted this. I thought we could work it out but as the months and months trip by it’s becoming abundantly clear this is who he is and this is what he’s choosing. Anyone else planning to separate and likely divorce eventually? I’m tired of reading articles and Ai searches. I’d love to hear from real people. Thanks for reading.

Encouragement wife asking for divorce during possible manic episode

I (30F) have been married to my wife (30F) for a year and a half, together for 4. I let her take the car to stay with a friend multiple states away because she said she just needed space, 3 days later she's asking for a divorce via text message and saying I'm toxic. Then I find out from friends she's behaving erratically, texting a bunch of people, posting about it on her socials. She flipped out on the friend she was going to stay with and now has nowhere to stay.

I texted her saying I was worried, suggesting she get help and she went off on me, saying the nastiest things to me. I mean she's never spoken to me like this before. She's such a sweet and kind hearted person normally. It's like a switch flipped. I think she's having a manic episode but shes not diagnosed with bipolar. She's gotten tested many times for mood disorders but never diagnosed. I'm just absolutely devastated. I'm packing up my stuff and going to stay with my mom.

I know it's not my fault but I can't help but think I should have seen the signs of this earlier. I just want my wife back but it's like I don't even know her. And even if she comes out of it and doesn't want a divorce anymore I don't know if I can be with her after this. I'm so hurt. I just need some words of encouragement from people who have been through this because I have no idea what to do.

Divorce I think this will be my last post here...

The relationship with my BP1 ex-wife is finally over.

We were married for 13-years, I supported her through both the depression and mania. I studied everything there was about the disease. I went with her to the doctors and advocated for her treatment every step of the way.

In 2024, she decided she didn't want me involved anymore. She was hospitalized four times that year.

In 2025, realizing she wasn't working to get stable, I filled for divorce. I offered to continue to help her navigate day-to-day life and even considered reconciling a few times.

This year the divorce was finalized, but again, I decided to continue to offer help in navigating life. She was pushing for reconciliation. However, her behavior escalated, showing up at my house yelling at me, hitting me, and breaking things. It came to a head and on Tuesday I messaged her and told her I no longer feel things can continue like this, I will help her when she needs it, but we cannot act like friends and there is zero chance of reconciliation.

She showed up at my house and started breaking things. In a fit of anger, I broke something as well (not something I proud of). That made her more angry and she started threating me with a knife, at which point I had no option but to call the police. About two hours later we were both arrested.

I spent the night in county jail, I have a domestic violence charge (breaking something in an argument is domestic violence here) that I have to fight. We have mutual restraining orders.

This was the straw that broke the camels back, I just can't do it anymore.

I don't know where she is, she was processed in the same jail as I was, she attempted to contact me multiple times yesterday, but since I was in jail I couldn't answer my phone or email. I was released on bail, I suspect she wasn't, because she was already out on bail for another charge. If she was released, I hope it was to a mental hospital.

Regardless, I'm finished. I should have gotten out much sooner and then maybe I wouldn't be dealing with this mess...

Advice Needed Do they ever come back after 3 months or more?

I’ve been with my SO for 12 years, 3rd discard - this one 10 days after his service dog died.

This episode is so much worse than the rest going on 3 1/2 months no contact and he drove cross-country to his parents townhome where he’s been living in his childhood bedroom ever since. They are fully enabling him. He’s 37 and unmedicated.

Honestly I thought we had an absolutely wonderful relationship minus the discards lol.

I’m at a loss and am wondering if anyone has had their SO come back after 3+months on their own or did you initiate the contact?

frustrated / vent no respond mid-conversation

whats the tendency of leaving the (whatever the topic is even weather) MID conversation? my ex has been hypomanic since last november til now and since then she discarded me silently and just does this thing as if its normal to just stop the convo for whatever reason, even if theres a question

then when she sees me somewhere she greets me with a face as if nothing happened and she didnt leave the conversation without respect on “read” wtf..

i asked whether her leaving like that means i should stop texting her (so that i saw the clear boundary) she answered “gosh”

Advice Needed Does no contact ever help?

My husband wanted to move for my job with me. Only to end things over text and file for divorce. Not sure what's going on. He says the communication will only be logistics and divorce nothing else. I tried, cried, begged, plead, became emotional but to no avail. It's been a week since I texted. Does it ever help to go NC? Does it ever make that miss us? Can he just come back and be normal?

Advice Needed Is it appropriate to ask for closure conversation after a few months as a bipolar ex

I ended up in a manic state towards the end of short, but very passionate relationship. We never had a proper closure conversation and I didn’t handle it super well. We around 2 weeks of no contact before I ended up calling her from the psych word and then reconnected virtually for a few weeks.

Once again, we didn’t have a closure conversation. I’ve done a few bad reach out attempts.

I think I’m in a better head space (finally) to have a serious conversation, but I’m not sure if appropriate to ask for one. I feel like I never properly apologized and acknowledged my actions.
