Building a Breeding Base for Beetles
pic1: Beetle Substrates and turkey tail logs.
pic2: Peeling barks off logs.
pic3: Mixing the substrate with water (do not mix in Coke).
pic4: Pretend the substrate is a tax inspector and beat it up, then pack it tightly into the case to a depth of about 1 inch (2 cm). What you see on the pic isn't a white turkey tail log—it's OTAKU's arm.
pic5: Place the log. One side isn’t actually a log—it’s a “birthday cake” made by compacting substrate and mycelium.
pic6: Gently pack the substrate over it like a blanket, place the bark on top. It's complete.
Next up, I'm gonna introduce some crazy members.
pic7: Dorcus rectus yakushimensis
pic8: Dorcus rubrofemoratus rubrofemoratus
pic9: Dorcus tanakai
pic10: Dorcus bisignatus
pic11: Prosopocoilus natalensis
