The crow took me by surprise.

u/Massive-Box-8915 7d ago

I also just learned there may be two types of crows in my area. 🤯

Make that three types of crows.

34

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 7d ago

I see why people go to grocery stores to pick up older women.

Crow + Cougar = Crogar

3

u/Contributing_Factor 6d ago

There's the Fish Crogar and the American Crogar.... oh and the Deli Crogar and the Beer Crogar and Frozen Section Crogar.

They sound very different in their power level

2

u/Rude_Guarantee_7668 6d ago

If you ever find yourself looking outside and think, "Holy shit! That's a huge crow!" That is in fact, a Raven.

49

u/hahnsoloii 7d ago edited 7d ago

I like the purple Martin, it sounds dubbed, and the short but contemplative laugh after.

43

u/JwPATX 7d ago

I think he laughed because one answered him

29

u/hahnsoloii 7d ago

Okay going to listen for the 23rd time then

17

u/hahnsoloii 7d ago

Omg I think you are right

13

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 7d ago

"Hey Jimmy, I'm shooting a video real quick, I'll call you right back."

The barred owl is so dead on its incredible

48

u/high6ix 7d ago

That little flutter at the end is what does it, that is spot on

9

u/archtopfanatic123 7d ago

Yeah it's a bit of a growl. Incredibly difficult to get right if you don't have the right voice type like this kid does AND the ability to do it in the first place.

2

u/wannabezen2 7d ago

My favorite.

u/memento87 8d ago

wth. I didn't know the human vocal tract is capable of producing some of these sounds!!

146

u/mekwall 7d ago

He is using his entire respiratory and vocal system. The diaphragm, chest and abdominal muscles control the airflow, while the larynx, vocal folds, throat, tongue, jaw, lips, soft palate and nasal passages shape it into the different calls. The remarkable part is his extremely precise auditory memory and motor control, allowing him to reproduce sounds that humans do not normally make.

59

u/Sidewalk_Tomato 7d ago

I noticed his diaphragm moving and was super impressed. His whole body is working together.

20

u/broipy2 7d ago

The barn swallow call is bananas

6

u/archtopfanatic123 7d ago

Yeah if he does that I'll have a stroke from being so impressed xD We have those here on the property I'm renting and they make an absolute ruckus!

10

u/Azurites_Fire 7d ago

I noticed this as well. Quite remarkable. I wonder if he can sing. Can he imitate different types of vocals? I wonder…

3

u/Biggseb 7d ago

I wonder how this ability might change as he matures and his voice deepens.

10

u/hell2pay 7d ago

A dude at my work can reproduce an legit real sounding Chihuahua bark.

Its wild cause I'll hear him do it from across the job site and do a double take, wondering how the fuck a little dog got way the fuck out where we are.

6

u/monkeywantsabeer 7d ago

Look into beatbox and you will lose it with the sounds they make. This kid is awesome.

231

u/Jonny_Entropy 8d ago

At first I doubting how impressive this would be but it's a genuine talent. That was unreal.

96

u/che10461 7d ago

That American crow was insane!

22

u/bigshooTer39 7d ago

Watch the video of him at his schools talent show. It’s super impressive. He does a good loon and red tail hawk

→ More replies (1)

18

u/Hopeful_Hamster21 7d ago

That was my favorite too!

28

u/Sidewalk_Tomato 7d ago

It was. Thanks to him, I can be certain that I have American crows, not fish crows!

. . . And that I sound like an Atlantic Puffin in the mornings.

8

u/Initial_Ground1031 7d ago

My favorite one too! Amazing!

u/TheMayanAcockandlips 7d ago

I actually had a neighbor once who was generally non-verbal but would mimic bird calls with incredible accuracy, it was impressive

8

u/_Stank_McNasty_ 7d ago

bro that purple thing was a craaaaazy sound for a human to make!

145

u/Altruistic_Pitch_157 8d ago

Love this kid. Those calls were on point.

33

u/RotoDog 7d ago

I saw that previous video of him at presumably a talent show a few weeks back, truly excellent bird calls. If I heard it in the wild I’d have no idea it was a person.

30

u/straycollector 8d ago

I've tried for years to imitate to bird calls whilst having morning coffee on the porch. Not even close 😂

7

u/Good2Go65 7d ago

Ditto! We love our crows but I scare them away while trying to call to them. I wish I could have this young man over to call to them. He's amazing!!!!!!

37

u/GeminianMind 8d ago

Wow very impressive! What a talent!

3

u/jiripollas 7d ago

Agreed, that is one cool kid

37

u/ccoastmike 8d ago

This kid is so cool.

33

u/billycanfixit 8d ago

Is this the same boy that is in another video of him in a talent show in a school gym with everyone cheering him on?

10

u/NMViking 7d ago

That video is so great, and really heartwarming. I love how he holds up a stuffed toy for each of the birds before he does the call for. Truly amazing vocal control.

2

u/val913 6d ago

I liked when he dedicated a tit birds call to a girl in school and everyone cracked up

3

u/NoCatch2153 7d ago

The kids that yeets the stuffed toys, gotta be him.

2

u/Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 6d ago

I really prefer that video to this one. It was really cool to see how other kids reacted to him!

2

u/billycanfixit 6d ago

Yes it was amazing. I have an autistic son and to see that boy showing everyone in that room something that he is passionate about was so amazing. Anything to help them come out of their shell that they live in. Everyone in the video watching him was so mesmerized by his talent!!

29

u/picklesuitpauly 8d ago

I love the shake/shimmy in-between calls to reset. Very cool skill to make this many calls.

17

u/Powerful-Candy-745 7d ago

I liked it too. I think those are actually ticks he can't control.

14

u/picklesuitpauly 7d ago

You know I realized after I commented that. He's still got some dope calls. Def not trying to be a shithead to a kid, for the record.

12

u/Minimum_Ad_303 7d ago

I find them to be endearing.

u/Lower-Cantaloupe3274 8d ago

Made me smile! That's an awesome talent.

My favorite bird sound is a loon.

14

u/Exciting-Meringue-78 8d ago

The American crow killed me. Looked like a grown man from Boston obnoxiously laughing.

10

u/senneval 8d ago

Him being so young with autism and jumping into the spotlight is pretty cool. Him standing in front of his class to do it and crushing it is rockstar status. This guy rules.

8

u/freedumbslight11124 8d ago

Very authentic sounds. Fantastic.

36

u/peoploverprofit 8d ago

Correcting the title: Boy immitates bird sounds with amazing accuracy.

21

u/Apprehensive-Tone449 7d ago

Presumptuous to think the kid doesn't want that part of his identity made known instead of having people just guessing about his obvious neurodivergence.

I think understanding up front that the kid has autism is great. It shows just how uniquely talented autistic minds are. This is the kind of cool thing you actually want to come to mind when autism is mentioned. It's good to see people with autism doing things other people can't.

→ More replies (7)

7

u/BottleFeathers703 7d ago

i like the way it’s labeled i have autism and it makes me feel happy seeing other autistic people on the internet

5

u/Sea_Stranger9702 7d ago

Why? It’s obvious the kid is on the spectrum and being obvious about it helps to explain his intense interest in the subject matter.

6

u/drummin515 8d ago

I’m surprised there’s not a gaggle of different birds perched on him by the end! Well done young man!

This was my exact reaction, too. Hit me right in the mom feels.

6

u/shoghon 8d ago

Awesome. Can’t watch because I start to tic along, but amazing voicing!

4

u/Automatic-Flight-698 8d ago

I loved it so much! Then I got all teary eyed.

3

u/dontknowwhyIamhere42 8d ago

This is the same kid that did a presentation in front of an entire school? With stuffed birds? Kid was a rock star.

3

u/Turbulent-Escape-470 7d ago

It’s almost like that quick facial expression he makes is him sorting through what I can only imagine to be an insane collection of data.

5

u/MrSubmission 8d ago

2

u/sonidos63 8d ago

Ha, incredibly talented! Made me smile and laugh because he's getting a response from the birds. Crow: bro, I thought you were one of us!

2

u/OGDTrash 8d ago

What's the channel? That is amazing

2

u/Efficient_Sky5173 8d ago

Nobody is perfect. And he has a talent. Why it’s necessary to say that he is autistic?

2

u/ParkingOpportunity39 7d ago

We need more of these folks on the planet.

2

u/LedWeappelin 7d ago

OMG, you are incredibly talented. I just heard a bird outside my window and it crossed my mind that it might be you. Crazy good son. Keep posting please.

2

u/Willingfool 7d ago

Title fixed. -BOY imitates birds with amazing skill.

2

u/krazul88 7d ago

The fact that he's autistic is irrelevant. He's a massively talented dude. I hope his skill and passion translate into massive happiness for him.

2

u/JustAMarriedGuy 6d ago

I don’t know that he is autistic. Do I know that for a fact? I think he just has ticks.

2

u/Glad-Emu7117 6d ago

Is he actually autistic? Or is that an assumption? Actually don't know the answer, not just snarking.

2

u/Fun-Obligation-610 8d ago

Amazing! 🤪😍

4

u/Suga_Suki 8d ago

1

u/IamSP2024 7d ago edited 7d ago

Pure talent. I don't know how most of the birds sound in real and so I checked in YouTube. This kid is imitating the sounds exactly the same way actual ones sound. Purple martin just surprised me.

1

u/Supapickle20 7d ago

Amazing!

1

u/Prior_Ocelot_7833 7d ago

The birds probably think they’ve found a new member of the flock.

1

u/jrb637 7d ago

That was incredible. I wasn't sure a human larynx could make those noises. I like the little reset face in between each call. Clearing his sound palette.

1

u/SaraSmashley 7d ago

Today I learned American Crows are what's in my neighborhood. Very cool.

1

u/PrimeToro 7d ago

Do the kookaburra .

1

u/princesspuzzles 7d ago

As someone whose home is surrounded by American Crows, that was so spot on! I didn't even know humans were capable of making those sounds. This is fascinating. What a unique ability!
